Why did lose your library from Microsoft? I still have all of mine on Microsoft, including the Animatrix from a code in my HD DVD box set from 2007 (and my Matrix Trilogy discs developed rot and are completely unplayable now but my digital copy still plays fine). I own hundreds of movies from multiple services and have never lost any from rights revocation.
And physical discs can develop rot or be stolen. I lost dozens of HD DVDs and DVDs from the WB/Cinram debacle from 15 years ago. I haven't lost a single digital movie.
I have a substantial physical collection and a modest digital collection. They both have their pros and cons. Neither is definitely better than the other. Physical has better quality but is less convenient. I can't bring my Blu-ray player on a plane but I can watch my digital movies on my tablet.
Comparing a Redbox single-night rental to a digital purchase that you can own the license to view for years does not help your position.

I agree, I lost my library of digital videos on Microsoft store, no refund no email acknowledging the content would no longer be available.

Folks...digital purchases do not equal physical discs. Should Amazon or anyone else (like Apple ) lose the digital rights for these titles, you lose too. Not to mention the ridiculous compression used to stream a title. Yes, digital is convenient, but you subject yourselves to the whim of the studio contracts at a severely compressed viewing/sound experience. This is the risk and potential loss you take. Google physical media vs streaming... don't take my word. The good news is, if you own the physical disc, you can play it over and over without risk of contract negotiations.
If you really want to see that movie or title, get a Blu-ray player or even better, a 4K Blu-ray player if you have a 4K TV and rent from Redbox. And if you buy/rent a 4K title... You will push your TV to new heights. Redbox Blu-ray is far cheaper than paying for a digital title and much better quality for your viewing experience. And no, I do not work for Redbox. C'mon... digital title cost is about twice the price of renting from Redbox.

A few years ago I lost Ella Enchanted from Apple iTunes. I purchased it on 10/01/2019 and noticed it missing a year later. I contacted Apple support and they said another studio bought it which removed and added it back to the store assuming it wiped out everyone's entitlement. It was available to purchase under Miramax for $17.99 so I just did VUDU D2D to get it back.
Good deal, sadly I can only find one movie I want, Violent Night, which isn't on physical at 4K either, and at $4.99 is still $10 cheaper than anywhere else.

thanks OP!
FYI Universal is giving this one a 4K - hopefully in time for the holidays. You can read the discussion here[blu-ray.com]. I'm likely going to hold out for the disc, but $4.99 (or $4.24) is a good deal nonetheless. I thought this movie was awesome.
I wish Universal (and others) would just release both formats right away.

Great info, thanks for the heads up! I'll probably pick up the physical too when it comes out, and will give the digital code to a friend (assuming it comes with one).
Agreed, it was a really fun movie, and that it's annoying that they can't release modern produced movies in 1080p and 4k at the same time.
Had the same problem last week. It actually created the account but I can't login. I contacted support and they said they would manually set it up on their side
Add me to this growing list. Created an account, linked to MA, couldn't log back it and got the same error message about completing sign-up with a purchase. Made a purchase. No change.
Gotta contact them now. Where is the 'support' link?

Even better, get a library card and rent from there for free

Just because you haven't doesn't mean it can't happen.
The only fool-proof way to not lose your stuff is to have DRM-FREE digital files that you can back up on your own terms and not have to trust someone else to not delete.
