Is this a good deal for a refurbished?
Yes, if your looking for one. The 8gb is a little small but if your just doing typical computer stuff and not gaming (who would be gaming on a surface?) Then it's fine.
The Allstate warranty is also a bonus here. I have had a few claims with Allstate, it's not seamless but it's doable with a phone call to get a claim completed.
I got a refurb Surface Pro 7 and if it wasn't new you could have fooled me. Came in MS packaging and supposedly had a warranty, although I never needed to find out. These things over overpriced for corporate buyers and then excess stock is sold off as refurbs at much cheaper prices.
8 GB of RAM is fine on these. They don't do well with video processing or gaming due to the passive cooling, and given those constraints and using it as a travel laptop/tablet it's never seemed slowed down at all.
These don't make good primary machines for the above reasons, but at this price using it as a secondary machine is much more palatable.

Great summary. I still have my Pro 3 and it runs fantastic and battery is still solid after 800+ cycles. Only reason I recently grabbed a Pro 7 is so I could replace a family members dead laptop with my 3, otherwise I wouldn't have even considered looking.
PS, if you're near any decent sized city, these sell for pretty low prices on FBM.

Good upgrade to Pro 7. Pro 3 is pretty old but still a great screen!
Pro 7 is often priced around $300 and I have seen it for $250.
It's a good deal on Pro 7
Pro 9 can be found for like $900
Pro 8 is decent for this price. If I didn't have Pro 7 already I would buy one but I prefer Pro 9 with the 12th Gen CPU for better battery and efficiency.

Yep! I paid $250 for the 7, it came with keyboard and pen as well. The 7 seemed to be best bang for buck for me, I didn't need anything more and it is still a decent upgrade.

Yes fantastic that you got keyboard and pen! That's at least $100-$150 value alone. I really like the surface tablets.

Where were you able to get a 7 for $250? Looking for one.
Will this be good enough for basic web browsing, netflix, youtube, some coding in vs code on the go? Read it gets very hot. I have my main desktop but looking for a secondary tablet like device to use while my main pc is fully occupied. Unfortunately cant code on the go on ipad

Personally, I'd pick it over pro 9.
