I like the Orient brand but not this model. I have a Mako that I've had for maybe 13 or 14 years. It's one of my favorites. Went snorkeling with it 100 times. Still looks and works great.

This watch actually looks pretty good aesthetically. Most Japanese watches I wouldn't classify as pleasing to the eye.

Customer service? Have you had official Seiko service done? Servicing a 3 hander auto costs more than the watch and can have long wait times.
That's not just Seiko, anyone that's going to service a mechanical watch will charge a significant amount to do it.. Do you know what's involved to service a time piece? They have to disassemble the entire movement, all hundreds of pieces, run them thru an ultrasonic cleaner, then reassemble the entire movement/watch, while oiling all parts that require it. It's a couple hours at least.. Seiko movements are notorious for not really needing any servicing, they can go for 10+ years without a service. But in the unfortunate event that one does, it's suggested to simply buy a new piece. You likely already got your money's worth from it so time for a new one.

I thought I wanted an orient, but a seiko and 2 eco drives later. I think I am good. They didn't cost much more than this and one of the eco drive is titanium with sapphire crystal
Which eco drive is in this price range with those specs ?

Yeah, and a lot of Pagani Design models use Seiko movements, particularly the NH35.

Currently not available. I paid $135 several years ago. Can be found on ebay around the same price, last time I checked
I have this citizen and also got it for around $100 iirc, it's nice enough, but tbh I prefer my Invicta automatic diver.

Imo the citizen is more of a dress watch and the Invicta is a bit more rugged looking.

Invicta probably weighs triple too. Those are big watches

The entry level Seiko movements are rip and replace instead of an actual service cost if you go to anyone other than Seiko. And therefore is about $30 for the parts and $30 labor instead of 2-4 ti s that for a service from Seiko and thus the comment about customer service.

I have family members that repair mechanical clocks, I'm well aware of both the skill and labor. But we were not talking about Grand Seiko, but most normal Seiko have machine built movements that are inexpensive and swappable.

I'm a big fan of the movements due to cost and quantity ratio. And literally have over 40 pieces with Seiko movements in them.

I think 42mm would not look large at all on a 7" ish wrist. 6" wrist... might look a bit big.
