Mine (of a different brand) has been functioning solid for 3 years supporting my boondocking and long road trip adventures. My advice:

1) Buy a size larger than you need. You will be pleasantly surprised.

2) Buy a fridge which either has a name brand compressor (example Secop previously known as Danfoss, LG etc) or offers 3 year or more warranty on its compressor.

3) The temperature gauge on all portable refrigerators is inaccurate because the sensor isn't actually in the cavity. Put your own thermometer inside for accurate readings.
It's a good deal, but I'd go for the 34qt one at $210 right now!
I have this exact fridge. Purchased at this price a few months back and have taken it on a few trips. No complaints, and the optional battery area doubles as storage for all the wires (just don't keep the power brick in there while it's running)

For anyone who might be looking at this for a Tesla, Amazon has the 23qt model (which will still fit in a Model Y under trunk compartment) for $199: BougeRV 12 Volt Refrigerator 12V Car Fridge 23 Quart Portable Freezer Compressor Cooler 12/24V DC 110~240 Volt AC for Truck Van RV Camper SUV Boat Travel Camping Road Trips Tailgating -7℉~50℉ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G1BBBQW
Isn't the frunk and trunk air sealed? Where does the heat exhaust to?

42 quart is only like 7 dollars more
42 quart has an odd-shaped storage area, though. The main big part holds 6 x 2 liter bottles just like the 30 qt. Then the small part above the compressor can hold another 12 cans. The 42 quart is a lot heavier and bulkier and you might or might not want to carry more cans or something not very bulky in the small area. For us, the 30 qt was better for our needs.

Anyone know the surge power requirement for this portable fridge? Have 12 V power supply but limited as to max amps output. TIA

Apologies for my ignorance but what would be better, a Rugged Road super light cooler, or a fridge cooler like this for camping? Obviously plugged in for road trips is nice but once you get to your destination and can't plug in do you risk your stuff warming up?

While it is insulated a bit - i would want mine to be powered 100% of the time. Most people will pair this with a jackery or such type device. It can get kind of complicated for camping, but it takes camping trips to a new level imo.

How well do these maintain temps if/when unplugged for extended periods?

Not very. That's not how they're intended to be used.

This vs cooler with frozen water bottles? For road trips.

Good for grocery shopping when don't go home right away?

I have this for some years now and it's great. In the summer I keep it in my van between front seats. If you don't use it for some time it can develop mold. Just remember to clean it once in a while 🙂
What do you use to clean out the mold?

I've seen it start to mold after a bit of water drops were left inside after it defrosted from the freeze mode.

Horribly bad.

It's like a regular fridge when the power goes out, and the food starts to go bad, just a lot worst!

They dont seem very insulated. And lose temperature fast.

I do see they have a "VIP" model with better insulation, but I haven't used that one yet.

This, since the frozen water bottles will begin to melt. And the portable fridge will keep its temperature as long as it's being powered.

Just make sure your grocery's fit since the portable fridge isn't too big
