What's the actual boost core clock of the 6950XT? For example my reference 6900XT already boosts to 2450mhz out of the box.

Just make certain you have a powerful enough power supply for whatever CPU and other accessories you choose to pair this with. I bought this about 6 months ago (at like $800) and ended up returning it because it kept shutting down my system with a 750 Power Supply running an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. Replaced it about a week later on a (decent at the time) 4070ti running in the same system and I have to say the performance is better overall with the less power hungry card. But at this priceā€¦definitely a good buy if you have the power supply to support it.

- - EDIT - -

I'm sorry, I should have clarified this in my original post. I only noticed the specific behavior when I was testing some games and pushing it as hard as I could with max settings. I noticed it with a couple I games, but most specifically Spider-Man: Remastered. With very high settings, ray tracing enabled and no fsr, it would always cause the PC to shut down with this card. I also had (still have) a 6700XT (card I was replacing on this system) and never noticed the same behavior when I tested it against that 6950xt. I also have a 3070 in a different system that I yanked out, same settingsā€¦never got the same behavior. Of course I didn't see super high levels of performance with either of the other cards, but they never shut down the system. And I was able to replicate this behavior pretty much at will. But when I wasn't pushing it as hard as I could, the card ran like a dream with the power supply.

I recall after researching that the max power draw of the 6950xt is a bit higher than (iirc, like 335 watts) even the 7900xt (I think about 320 watts), and possibly even higher than the 7900xtx. Certainly higher than that of the 4070ti which I have in this rig now.

So definitely my apologies for not highlighting that my primary point of reference was in relation to max power draw and just how hard you're pushing the system based on the power supply you have available. In spite of anything, though, I still think it's an outstanding card for the current price hands down!

Odd bc I have that exact same setup (as does a buddy) and it runs no problem. You may want to keep an eye on your PSU as it may have degraded, or is potentially failing.

honestly id just spend a little more for the 7900xt, its 30% more performance for less than 30% more cost.

It uses about the same power out of the box as a 3080 and is very easy to UV into the 220-280 watt range depending on how much performance your willing to leave on the table.

My gf is running hers on a 650w PSU with a 7600 without any issues.

Still faster then my 3080ti and uses less power šŸ¤·.

I think starfield and the dlc this comes with will stay at a 100 dollar value for at least a year to promote game pass.... So you're really getting a 100 dollar game bundle as well.

Your power supply likely isn't functioning as advertised. 750w should be more than enough to power a 300w card, a 105w cpu, plus your other components.

The PSU might have issues, but the 6950 is also known to have very high transient power spikes sometimes in excess of 500w which can be enough to crash a system. There's a reason AMD recommends an 850w PSU as the minimum.
