Please don't be that guy who thinks everybody else wants to hear his music while riding down the trail.
i would prefer for people who blast their music out in nature to have something small like this. instead of using i speaker so big it comes with its own cross-body strap.
Anyone have experience with this product? I rarely run into people on my commute so I feel like I won't bother people if I turn it off preemptively. Wondering if I'm compromising safety with radio on though.

My wife and I ride together, i have this mounted on the drops of my road bike pointed up. Never has to be anywhere near max volume to hear it. The radio portion doesnt work well, but bluetooth works great. Our rides are 1-2 hours, battery isn't quite half dead at 2 hours of usage. The location I've chosen to mount it makes it difficult to get to the buttons.
If you run a varia with a garmin head unit the beep can still be heard over the speaker all tje way up to 3/4 volume.

I actually have 4 of these and I am quite happy with them especially for only $25. I have 3 of them on bikes and 1 of them on a scooter. When I ride, I pretty much mostly use it for its bluetooth. The bike mount is a huge PRO. I also have tunein radio PRO (yearly) so that makes it easier to change FM stations and you get clearer radio but that will absolutely drain your phone battery significantly faster. How much do you enjoy FM radio at the expense of battery life? I rarely use tunein radio pro because the battery drain is too much and I got a monster size 14GB of music files but I got tuneinradio for free for the year. When I ride, I like to ride fast so it is pretty dangerous to constantly change stations whether it be on the jbl wind 2 or even the phone. In the car, people constantly flip FM stations and you really can't do that here because I would have to slow down and it would be distracting me from the road or sidewalk. The battery life isn't as good as my JBL Clip 3 but I am pretty sure having smaller battery and just OTA radio uses more battery life than regular bluetooth connection. When I use its radio, I am at a still location like connecting this JBL Wind 2 to a larger Sony bluetooth speaker. If you connect an external antenna (assuming you are at a still location), it definitely improves the radio reception. To me it is better to have FM radio capability than not have it at all. I just tape a piece of paper with the FM station station numbers on the JBL Wind 2. Changing the station is fine for me. The sound quality is fine. The bike mount is the big reason why I use the JBL Wind 2 more than my JBL Clip 3. However I do use the JBL Clip 3 attached with nite ize rubber silicone twist tie on my other scooter and it works great in keeping it stable and facing me. If someone has zero interest in FM radio, JBL Clip 3 or 4 are great options as well but it doesn't have the dedicated bike mount. I recommend nite ize silicone twist tie. I can't argue if someone prefers JBL Wind 2 over the other or vice versa. I have the JBL Clip 3 and also Shokz OpenRun & OpenRun Pro bone conduction earbuds. They all have their different pros and cons when bike riding. I have no regrets in buying the JBL Wind 2.
* I think OTA radio reception or LIVE STREAMING is going to drain the battery faster than bluetooth. The OTA radio reception drains slower than LIVE STREAMING RADIO on my phone. TuneIN Radio live radio chugs my phone battery life. It is what it is when it comes to OTA radio or live streaming radio app and them using more battery life. A live streaming radio app won't suck the battery life from the JBL Wind 2 but it will do it to the phone's battery life. OTA radio will use more battery life on the JBL Wind 2.

5 watts is just 5 watts. This isn't 500 watts. It is really for one person listening in a small space. This speaker is only a couple feet from your ears so nobody is "blasting" 5 watts. Some people act like it is 400 watts that is what you get from a car stereo system. "Everyone can hear 5 watts"?! If people ride in the city, the outside city noise is like 85db so other riders won't be bothered by it when there is so much outside city noise. If you ride a path, people pass each other quickly in like 1-2 seconds. Not a big deal if somebody hears some music for a couple seconds unless they are a real Karen.
If I grab my 40 watt bluetooth Sony Speaker and attached it to the rear rack, that would be a different story.
