I received an email this morning from someone claiming to be from Sofirn.

I am Delia from the sofirn official website. We are currently promoting a tactical flashlight SC31T-SE with a promotional price of 19.99USD. It is shipped from our overseas warehouse in the United States and can output up to 1300 lumen. It has a side switch and a tactical tail switch. The tail switch allows for instant opening, and the other is used to change the brightness, ideal for use in emergency situations. This is the product link: https://www.sofirnlight.com/produ...300-lumens.
If you are interested in placing an order directly, this is a clearance product, there is not much stock.
Went to Sofirn website directly and this flashlight is on clearance for 19.99.

I got this the other day. USB c rechargeable on the handle with a rubber flap. The tailpiece turns the flashlight on and off. The button on the side changes the brightness up and the brightness down and flashes when it hits better low and flashes when it hits max high. A momentary abrupt flash, not a long flash. Which I like. The tail cop is not magnetic. The tail cap can be unscrewed halfway to separate the battery terminal from the battery itself for long-term storage. Overall, great flashlight for the price. Double click side button at any time while it's running, to go into turbo mode. Or perhaps it's max brightness mode. Triple click to go into defensive strobe light. Four clicks in a row does something strange and I think it's trying to tell me it's battery level? Flashlight tailpiece has a rubber o-ring that's replaceable . Flashlight head has a rubber o-ring that can be replaced as well. Both o-rings are oiled to preserve them. Center expansion tube is for an 18650 battery. I'm sure a shorter tube can be purchased from their website for a dollar or two to use a shorter battery to make it even more pocket-friendly than already is. Removable pocket clip with one way clip made for pants. Pocket clip can be plucked off and spring-loaded pressed back on and reverse direction to attach to your baseball hat. Or your backpack on your shoulder facing forward. Print on the side of the head says CSTE b o k e. And below that says SC31T SE. Comes with wrist strap, battery if you selected that at purchase, flashlight itself, USBC to USB-A cable at about 3 ft long, nothing else. Okay so I read the directions and while the flashlights running, press side switch four times to go between group one and group two. Group one allows your flashlight to be controlled stepless brightness by side switch holding it down, so it gradually slides between each brightness level without a noticeable step or gap. Group two allows the flashlight side button to cycle through four different brightnesses only. With steps. Eco, low, medium, and high. I prefer the ladder. When the flashlight is off, if you hold down the side switch and then press the power tail cap switch, it goes directly into Moon mode which is an even more power saving setting. Fantastic if you don't want a blind everyone around you in the middle of the night. It has a green and red light on the side underneath the power side switch. There's only one momentary switch on the side of the flashlight by the way. And only one spring loaded push button switch on the tail cap. The tail cap is a complete mechanical switch with a definite on state and a definite off state separated by a millimeter or two. The side button is a momentary button with a click that you can feel with your thumb. this switch on the side I'm talking about lights up green when it's fully charged and then turns red when you got 30% power left and flashes red when you have to charge immediately. The color disappeared after a second or 2. I mentioned before that you can triple click while the flashlights running to enter strobe mode and if you double click while strobe mode, it'll cycle through different strobe modes from defensive strobe, SOS, and beacon which is pretty cool if you want to conserve power and have a flash of light every now and then. One more single click returns to the previous regular flashlight mode. The flashlights rated up to 1,300 lumen Flux. Strobe is at 1300 and beacons at 1300 and SOS is at 200. Moon is one lemon, eco is 10, low is 70, medium is 200, 550 is for high and turbo is 1,300. Moon has in a distance of three meters, eco is 56 m, low is 250 m, medium 875 m, high 2,133 m and turbo at 5,391 m. Or maybe those are feet? 1 m impact resistance from drop, IPX 8 water resistance up to 2 m underwater, and not for diving. Input voltage for charging is 5 volt at 1 amp. The unit weighs 67 g without battery. I hope this is enough information for someone to make or not make a purchase. Excuse my errors as this is done with voice to text.
If you press the enter button, it would break it into paragraphs that would make your ideas not such a jumbled mess to read.
My dad had one of these, the LED got so hot the solder melted and the LED fell off inside the housing lol

You're weird about flashlights and I love it.
I have several of these lights. Their description of the various modes and accessing them is 100% clearer than anything In the awful Sofirn manual. I'm saving the mode access description for future reference.

Personally I still think it' might not be the best choice when you can get two SC31Pros for $42 shipped from Sofirn. Not saying it's not worth $20, just that at $21 a piece most people might appreciate the SC31Pro's better features.

Is this the same model you mentioned in your post? Is this a good price for the red? Or wait for a brighter flashlight?

No. That is the SC31T which is the "tactical" version. It has a tail switch and the older Anduril 1 user interface. It is still a good light, but it is slightly inferior to the SC31Pro in my opinion. The SC31Pro has Anduril 2.0 and is powered on and manipulated by the side switch. I prefer it that way. Both are really nice for about $20. You should try one. Better yet, get two.

FFS,,, and are they available for $19.99???
(a $100 flashlight is better than this $20 one...nyah, nyah!)
It's $80 with email signup and lifetime warranty from Fenix. It's 4 times better than Sofrin. And yes, I've bought several on these cheap Sofrin lights. They get piping hot! PD36R is perfect because it emits a steady, bright light of 800 lumens w/o getting hot and dim.
