$5-6 seems to be the new 'sale' price, per unit after discounts this seems pricy.

Maybe so, I'm not sure. I just found this deal yesterday. It's a bulk price discount, so presumably HD has a lot of these.

This deal is always going on in-store at the Chicago area home depots. I buy filters regularly and just bought 2x2 air filters for a bunch of box fans and ended up getting double what I wanted (but I'll use em.)

My hvac takes 1/2 inch filter, does anyone know where I could buy those for the cheap? None of the local stores around me carry 1/2inch filter, only 1inch.

Wot..... ? You say

They are are all about 1" thickness +/- . It should squash down into the housing easily.

Never heard of 1/2 thick filters
