I think it's just because they use a network of shippers for freight and can't predict what truck each carrier will have and keep freight costs under control. I do have forks for my tractor, but when I got my planer from them, with similar no lift gate service messaging, the truck that came did in fact have a lift gate. If you call their customer service, maybe you can find out what freight company they will use for your location and then contact that freight provider. I've had really good experiences over the phone with Grizzly.

Irks me that they don't offer lift gate service - meaning you either have to have your own forklift or drive and pick it up at the depot and figure out how to get it out of your own truck…

You could probably have Home Depot price match this, as they have free delivery that should have liftgate service

They put that warning on anything that comes on a non standard pallet. I ordered a similar model grizzly jointer a few years ago and it said no lift gate service. The truck that showed up did have a lift gate but only had a standard pallet jack and couldn't get it onto the lift gate due to it being strapped and shrink wrapped to a 96 inch long pallet. Neighbor has a kubota with forks that we used. Im sure they could and would have shimmied it onto the lift and got it down rather than not deliver it, but I'm also sure they would have been some real angry delivery guys if we had to do that. They also probably wouldn't have cared it it fell, they just wanted it off their truck lol

I had a grizzly 8x76 jointer delivered a year ago, same concern on the lift gate service. It was one of these monster ones with the cabinet. The guy pallet jacked into my garage for me. Worked like a charm and it will stay with the house when I move šŸ˜‚

I've been eyeing this as well but am hesitant because they don't offer liftgate service. Would you just ask them to send it back if you're not able to get it off the truck?

It's a lot to pay for something that isn't really needed. I sold both of my jointers years ago and never looked back and never miss them. I would like a larger planer, however.
Do you just use jigs on your table saw and planer to replace the function of the jointer?

If you want to do woodworking it is needed. We'd all like a larger planer.

I haven't bought a large tool in 9 years, but back then I had 5 500 pound tools moved into my garage on a pallet jack by the truck driver. (I then had to hire a moving company to get them in my basement) Have things changed?
