If they are going for the game console concept they should do what the gaming consoles should have been doing from the beginning and adopt the form factor of a stackable stereo receiver. How cool would it be to have a traditional looking setup with a turn table and the whole nine which also has a proper gaming pc controlling the tv? I'm almost tempted to gut one and DIY a case out of it.

Cool compact machine. But not cool in standby or sleep. Keep itself warm in sleep mode because of the modern standby.
GPU is not bad for stable diffusion with OpenVINO. Can achieve 8t/s.

They used to make HTPC cases that were designed to fit into your media center, but I think the idea of a "media center" has changed drastically in the last ten years.

Probably not that is why Intel is getting out of the NUC biz. However there is innovation in the Chinese mini PC so maybe some day.
