WARNING: The internal modular power supply cables connect to the SIDE of this power supply, it is NOT compatible with all cases! I really wanted to buy it for my "mostly stuff I just have laying around" Unraid server build, but it the ancient Antec One Hundred case I was putting it into was incompatible. Check your case before buying!

I wish this fits the lian li o11d mini. Hopefully the sfx model reduce the price soon!

Is pcpartspicker supposed to give an error when combing this rm850x with the lian li o11d mini? It's not listing any compatibility issues when I try it.

Only sf models came up from pcpartpicker. Maybe you chose the lian li o11 air mini?

I would not buy a psu with side modular cables... this is special use case and its bad enough psu makers moving away from braided cableb to the thinner stuff on 1000w psu

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess that's what "Shift" refers to in the product name. This PSU seems like an answer to a question no one asked.

It seems like most if not all modern cases now reserve space on the backside for cable management routing. This removes an extra turn the cables would have to make for that. The video on the amazon page shows the problem being solved.

Exactly what I say about GPU's. If you want 3d acceleration then go for a run and look around. Technology should never change.

On new cases with glass sides, it prevents the mess of wires coming out of the PSU being visible. If I were doing a new build, I'd use one. I didn't ask for it, but it is a pretty great innovation.

All of the glass sided cases I've used have a PSU shroud. I can see this PSU offering less interference for a bottom mounted drive cage and also easier access to the connectors, but I suspect it can't be mounted either right side up or upside down, which a traditional PSU offers - that flexibility allows for the fan to either draw air from the case with the fan on top, or draw air from outside of the case with the fan on the bottom. That option may or may not matter to buyers though.
