Superb AC for my apartment.
I got 2 for the summer and they did wonders. They were quick to install and cooled the rooms well, enough to help me through the sweltering summer days. They were very quiet, far quieter than regular window AC they replaced.
As to saving on electricity, I have no direct comparison, but the electricity bills are smaller for sure.
Only thing missing is connectivity, but I knew it before the purchases, so no complaints.

I ordered this and it came today, just in time for this "heat dome" thing that's going on. This inverter tech is a game changer. The unit appears to be built well and the inverter is a "soft start" style (no extreme surge current) and it ramps up in what appears to be four set stages at roughly 400watts, 600w, 700w and 800w max. The unit is so incredibly quiet compared to the older single stage non-inverter style window units that I've used in the past. One thing I'll note: on lower power, the compressor is spinning so slow and it's ever so slightly out of balance that it does vibrate the wall a little, but the only way you can notice that is because it's so incredibly quiet. I'll also note: it's only an 8,000btu unit, so try to understand those limitations and don't expect it to cool off your entire house.

I'm hoping to run this off a little solar system that I'm building for fun, so the low power draw and the non-existent surge current are key requirements and this AC unit seems to satisfy those two requirements.

Does it have eco mode? About how much wattage does it use in eco mode?

It does have ECO mode, but it does not appear to directly reduce power usage when the unit is actively trying to cool. It seems like the idea is to save power by fully shutting off when your room is "at temp".

Here's what it manual says: "In Eco mode, when the desired temperature is reached, the compressor will turn off and the fan will continue to run for 3 minutes. Then the fan cycles on for 1 minutes at 5 minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on and cooling restarts."

You can control the power draw by setting the fan speed however. One thing to note: I'm measuring this right now at the hottest time of the day (it's 100deg out) and so these numbers might be a little on the higher side considering the temp.
  • Low: 446w
  • Medium: 642w
  • High: 802w
  • Auto: swings around variably depending on how close the room temp is to your set point, I saw all sorts of numbers from 450w to 725w all the way to max 800w.
Another thing to note: I did these measurements with one of those kill-a-watt power meters and the measurements all showed a power factor of .99 to 1, which is pretty much perfect. This is also important if you want to run this off-grid on an inverter or on a generator as some inverters/generators have problems powering devices that have a poor power factor (< .6) .

Hope this helps!
