. I know it's not a huge difference if your buying a video card, but starfield premium has been $82 on Fanatical for a while. it's something that was pushing me to the edge of a purchase since in my head I was discounting $100 from the cards price and trying to justify replacing my 3080 10gb , but ultimately figured i'll hold onto it longer until I get a 4k monitor.

I have a 3080 10gb too.
The realization I came to is this: screw AMD and nVidia. I'm gonna run this card into the ground. I will play with lower settings if I have to keep my frames up. Once it finally kicks the bucket, I'm buying off the used market. They will never see another dollar out of me.
All computer parts are dropping in price, but this duopoly is single handedly pricing me out of my hobby. screw em both.

yeah honestly the past 3 cards i've had before the 3080 were used and I never had an issue and I got them at great prices. got a 1080ti before this card that was clearly used for mining but still runs great 3 years after I bought it , it was evga so the warranty was good for 2 of those years I believe also. it really sucks that they aren't doing cards anymore since they had the best warranty. but I'm with you I think I might just go back to used cards after this one, or at least open box.

Literally same mentally. Especially with DLSS and FSR2. Right now it's great for 1440p 120/144 Hz/FPS. But a lot of games are unoptimized and basically require upscaling tech to hit those frames.
Anyways I'm gonna keep this card until "Balanced" and "Performance" DLSS doesn't cut it anymore. I haven't had a card like this since the 1080/Ti.

Yup ditto, I worry a bit what will happen when I get a 4K monitor but DLSS might be my future for a bit. The current crop of cards besides the 4090 aren't worth what they are charging.

For what it's worth, the upscaling presets (Quality, Balanced, etc) scale with your resolution. So at 4K, you'd probably use Performance, and it would look like Balanced or Quality. In a lot of games, they say it in the Options menu.
