I have this except just the smaller container.
It kicks all sorts of butt.
Worth.
Didn't know there was a bigger container.

Less horsepower than the professional. Smaller container. The smaller container is better for smaller batches and individual smoothies

How does this compare to their professional models?
Explorian sucks. Grossly irritating high pitched noise, plastic frame and they dance right off the counter. Beyond this few people will get any use out of the 32 oz DRY container. Nor is the 48 oz WET container particularly useful. According to the specs listed this version of Explorian doesn't even have the full power motor with radial cooling which Costco Explorians have.

Have you ever thought about or tried the pro series? Since these are expensive, I'm trying to see if I should avoid this model and go straight to the pro model as it's 64oz and has a better motor
Yes, absolutely, go for the full size motor base with the 64 oz container. The 7500, Pro750, Venturist have all seen deals in the past year for $300 to $350.

For person who asked for dosa. We have the costco version. I has no idea that costco one and this one are different.

Explorian designates a series. All of them share one thing: economy modes sold as "an introduction to Vitamix". Costco Explorian models like the E320 may have a motor upgrade but they are sill plastic frame economy series. I unloaded my Explorian as fast as I could. Costco also sell full size Vitamix. Look for amps, weight and years of warranty when shopping.

Like many manufacturers Vitamix may retain a model number while using cost reduced parts in newer versions. My first generation 7500 ( part of the Next Generation Series introduced in 2007 with major design improvements ) made in 2009 never required hearing protection but a 2021 7500 i purchased requires over the head hearing protection because the new motor while powerful is made by a different motor maker.

Used Next Gen models in good cosmetic condition can be an excellent buy for under $75. Often they only need a new drive gear which can be easily replaced in minutes with just the hex key included in the kit. Expect that a new container will be required but then it will perform like new.

I use a $60 blender every day to make smoothies. Is there anything a Vitamix can do that a basic blender can't do?

I have a Pro at home and I bought one of these Explorians for my parents a while back. Quality was pretty disappointing on the Explorian. I'm sure it gets the job done, but if you're expecting that heavy well-built Vitamix feel where it's planted on the countertop, doesn't rattle around when in use, and has a control knob with just the right "feel" to it, then this isn't for you.

Can you blend hot stuff or does it explode out the top? Hate making Salsa and having to let the stuff cool off before turning on the blender or using a towel at the top

If you're happy with your smoothies, stick with what you've got! That said, a Vitamix (can't speak for the Explorian but at least the 750 which is what I've got) will blend smoothies much more "smooth" - it cuts everything including veggies, fruit, and ice, more finely than I've ever achieved with a string of $60 blenders over the years.

But again if you're happy with what you've got save your money. It's just a blender in the end.
