and I really doubt college students are interested in live TV

Otherwise, student plan exists for Youtube Premium

Or advertisers are so motivated to reach this demographic and install aspirational goals (cars, products, etc.) to get their post-degree income that they're willing to subsidize the cost. I don't think the college discount is impacting the regular cost of service at all.

I already have a student Apple Music account and have been paying for Apple TV. I can't seem to update my account with Apple TV included. Do I need to cancel my paid account first?

It sounds like you think companies are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. In most cases it's business decision done in the best interests of the company, not to help the students out.

I'm having same issue. I ended up canceling both and trying again, but Apple TV says my sub end in September. I'm going to just roll with it to see if it changes after September. If anyone has any suggestions/fix, it would be appreciated
