Wow, FHD display on a 18 inch screen and a 4080. I guess this makes sense for competitive esports where frame rate matters a lot, but pretty bad for other gamers.

And with nothing changed but the display to QHD+, it's a $500 upcharge and removed the discount! Ridiculous $2950 for that.

Funny, I posted this same deal but w/ 64GB a few weeks ago for this same price and it didn't take off. This isn't quite as good but the laptop is amazing. I do NOT recommend the 1200p screen for doing actual work on, I returned mine and will probably be getting the 1600p one

You did not post the "exact same deal".
The one you posted was with an RTX 4070 according to your description, which is an absolutely shit deal considering 4070 laptops can be bought for $1000-1500.

This deal is with the RTX 4080 and there's a huge performance difference between the two GPUs.

Wow, ignoring the screen resolution, a laptop with an 18" display and a $1000 graphics card?! Is that even considered portable at that level?! Might be a better "investment" to just build out a gaming desktop at that point…

You can't carry a desktop with an Nvidia graphics gaming card. That's why the laptop exist with less power obviously but great capability to play next gen games at decent framerates.
