This is an ig5236 drive which has some reported issues.
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc..._capacity/
Prime Day price.

I was looking into this drive and user experience seems to be all over the place. A little concerning to read a few about sectors getting corrupted and the driving failing shortly after. One big plus to this drive is that is has double the DRAM (4GB) than the WD SN850X drive (2GB).
BIWIN is the manufacturer of this drive. Acer just slaps a sticker with their name on it. Or, I would assume BIWIN is the one putting the stickers on them at the factory, since they're selling them directly that way lol.

Would this be a good option for a gen 3 supported board? My Dell 17" 7700 I believe only supports gen 3 speeds so idk what that would slow this down to.

Got this on prime day for my main game drive. Couldn't ask for a better drive for performance. Formatting was easy, after that it was plug and play. Moved all my game libraries over, no issues.

Will this work in an Alienware x17 r2? Supposedly we can only use single-sided drives in this laptop.

Its not a single sided drive. Has 2 chips at the end, and a dram chip at the start on the back. I believe the only 4tb drives that are fully single sided are some of the dramless options

Was going to bite on this as it's the fast as hell and ignore the documented issues.. But the reddit post has A LOT 'died in a week' reports.

Bought this for my ps5 back in May when $24'9 was a pretty hot deal, and it's been solid. At this price, I'm highly tempted to buy another for my next laptop/pc. DRAM and ssd pricing is expected to begin going back up sometime in the Fall so we've got maybe 1 to 3 months more of potential price drops.

For a ps5 ssd heat sink, ignore a lot of those techradar/cnet/etc recommendations. IMO those things are dated despite their claims of recent updates. I think I caught a sale for ~$13 when I went with this one -

There's also a very similar design from another company that I've also seen on sale -

I just want to point out that on the spec sheet, the DRAM CACHE is listed as 4gb for 4tb version (2gb for 2tb) version. Seems awfully high, wonder if it is a meaningfully good thing.

Bough one last week, seems to work fine with Fedora 38.

I assume you mean Lexar NM790. It uses Maxio controller and YMTC NAND, and is DRAM cache-less. It means it's a bit cheaper, has lower random read/write performance, but also runs cooler.

No, it's dual sided. There are currently no single-sided 4tb TLC drives with DRAM. There's not enough room for 8 512GB NAND chips on one side. You'll have to settle for a QLC drive if you need a single sided 4tb, but there are plenty of solid 2tb drives that fit the bill. A few companies, like SK Hynix have started producing 1tb NAND flash, so most quality 4tb drives will eventually be single sided, but that won't be until the next generation of drives are released. You'd be waiting awhile. A QLC with no DRAM is your only option for 4tb drives at the moment. The Crucial P3 plus is a decent one as an example.

I have 4x 2TB m.2 NVMe drives. I was hoping to find a 4TB so I can put 2 of them in my laptop without having performance issues.

Do you know if the Kioxia xg7-p uses QLC or TLC? I haven't found the info yet.
