AAA Discount. Curious it's worth $250 (Factoring 10% Chat Discount) to upgrade from Q700B for $200

To quote another SD user :

You have to put these exact words into the chat for it to work - "Hi, I'm a shameless cheapskate and $900 off MSRP just isn't going to cut it. Make me feel extra special. Daddy needs a new pair of undies."

Essentially, you tell chat you are on the fence of making the purchase, without mentioning any EPP, EDU, or AAA discounts. If you have a sympathetic CS rep, they will give you a link to a 10% discount cart or a promo code for 10% off.
900 is the better bar and sub. But you would need to buy rears separately.
990 and 900 are the same bar and sub but 900 doesn't have rears included. You can get the 9500 rears from Best Buy for $120. They are not as good as the rears from the 990 (which have 3 speakers each instead of 2) but they are better than the 9200 (which only have 1 each)

910 and 800 are same bar and sub but the 910 has 2 more speakers than the 800 and has the 9200 rears (smaller and no up firing compared to the 9500s)

Below are the specs from their user manuals on Samsung's site. The Q990C and Q900C show the same for the Bar and Sub. The Q910C and Q800C are almost identical with the only difference being the Q800C has 2 less 20 W in the bar output.

Q990C
Bar Dimensions - 48.5 x 2.7 x 5.4 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (18 W x 4) + (10 W x 2) + (18 W x 2) + (10 W x 1) + (18 W x 6)

Sub Dimensions - 8.7 x 16.3 x 16.1 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 200 W

Q910C
Bar Dimensions - 43.7 x 2.38 x 4.7 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (30 W x 3) + (20 W x 6) + (10 W x 3)

Sub Dimensions - 8.3 x 15.9 x 15.9 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 160 W

Q900C
Bar Dimensions - 48.5 x 2.7 x 5.4 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (18 W x 4) + (10 W x 2) + (18 W x 2) + (10 W x 1) + (18 W x 6)

Sub Dimensions - 8.7 x 16.3 x 16.1 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 200 W

Q800C
Bar Dimensions - 43.7 x 2.38 x 4.7 inches
Bar Rated Output power - (30 W x 3) + (20 W x 4) + (10 W x 3)

Sub Dimensions - 8.3 x 15.9 x 15.9 inches
Sub Rated Output power - 160 W
Ceiling speakers are ideal but you can get Atmos sound with upfiring speakers. If you have two in the front and two behind you in a smaller room with a flat reflective ceiling you will hear Atmos sound.

  1. Any experts who have read the webs willing to share what's a good sound quality settings?
  2. Also, I have Apple TV + Samsung 85QN90A TV + Q900C .... And I can't control the sound with the appletv remote anymore. I can't see the floating number on how loud the volume is when I press the up volume button on Appletv remote. And when I press the volume on apple tv, it doesn't sound the same as when I press the volume on the soundbar's remote. When I press the volume on Apple TV remote, it only increases the TV's sound and not the bar + sub. Anyone has a solution?

1. I prefer the Standard mode as it reproduces the original sound without any 'up-mixing'. All other modes will produce fake surround sound.
2. This is a feature/bug in the Q-Symphony software. You are better off without it, and letting the soundbar work alone. This will restore normal operation of your volume controls.

1. I'm sorry, what is standard mode? This soundbar only has 2 modes; adaptive or gaming, and I'm assuming you're talking about "adaptive" correct?
2. Do you turn on the "spacefit" feature? and if I don't I should turn off the mic from the soundbar, correct? Does "spacefit make the sound smaller because the room is smaller? is that how it works?
3. So you chose the sound only to come out from soundbar only? and not soundbar + TV? and this would fix the appletv remote issue?

1. I'm talking about the 'Sound Mode' option in the SmartThings App. That's where you select the 'Standard' mode.
2. Yes, turn on the SpaceFit feature. It adjusts the sound to match your room size and shape.
3. I don't have a Samsung TV, but reviews say that the Q-Symphony feature does not improve the sound much. Worth turning it off to see if it solves your problem.

if you use Q-Symphony mode (TV +soundbar), you only get 2 options, adaptive or game mode. Select to output only from the soundbar in the TV or smartthings app. Then you'll get Standard, Surround, Game, & Adaptive modes available.

Got this and behaves weird. I used the hdmi arc but sound from tv speakers and soundbar were not in sync. I switched to digital and can only play from soundbar but that's fine with me. The problem is is I can't control volume neither from main tv remote or fire tv remote. And I have a Samsung TV

Also does anyone know how to make the sound bar turn on with tv. My old sony soundbar used to do that automatically

I have a Vizio Atmos soundbar. At that time got it for 299 on SD, a few years ago. I assumed prices had come down in the intervening years but nope. I see Vizio's current low end atmos bar is 399.

anyways just to say these are buggy as crap. probably my error in most cases but i've had lots of bugs with mine. audio is pathetically complicated. why cant they just make stuff that works.

that said I FINALLY got everything working on my setup with new TV recently after a couple hours fuss and noticing my Xbox was flagging my TV as not HDR 10 compatible. the issue was i had not changed the hdmi inputs on my new hisense 75u6h to enhanced, which is an incredibly obtuse process. why arent they just enhanced to start with after all these years of hdr? anyways all that aside, i finally got dolby vision and dolby atmos working correctly (at least as far as i know! dolbyvision badge on content and green light on bar confirming atmos sound) on tv and soundbar, and boy am i pleased. especially for a combined 1k (tv 699, bar 299). pretty incredible stuff for the prices. the new starfield for one supports both atmos and dolbyvision, most microsoft first party titles seem too (many games seemingly dont).

series x+hisense budget 75" TV +Vizio budget soundbar=bougee movie theater

If you are new to atmos and have an xbox, dolby has an app on xbox (i believe it's required). It has a few short videos demo-ing the technology, the rainy jungle one I found very cool

Have you set it up and do you like it?
I finally had time to do it yesterday and, wow, saying I'm pleased is an understatement. For context, I got this Q900C and the 9500S from the BestBuy deal.

While I didn't try them separately much, the full system made such a difference in my viewing experience over my LG C2 speakers. It really feels like I have my own movie theater - especially when watching Atmos enabled content. The fun thing for me is that I'm able to turn the system off at any time, which defaults back to the TV, and that now feels like a tiny box.

IMO, adding the rears with the BB deal is absolutely worth the $120. The effect can vary a lot depending on your preferred settings and content source. With 7.1 and/or Atmos sources, they add a great sense of immersion that the sound bar alone didn't provide.

They also paired easily and immediately with the Q900C once I followed the instructions provided. The subwoofer did too.

oh lawd, going from any tv speakers to even a $30 2.0 wal mart brand onn soundbar is going to be huge, let alone this thing.

i swear when i had to use tv speakers for a while it's almost worse than if i had to downgrade to a 32" tv or something.

I had a bit of issue pairing the SWA-9500S with the Q900C. When initially paired the sound stopped working from soundbar. Deleting device & re-adding to smartthings didn't work, no luck with turning off then on or even resyncing satellites.

What worked was to unplug everything, delete device from app, the re-add everything.
