These tend to disappear very quickly, and available quantity is unknown. This is the same iPad that has been listed for $249 recently. The product listing page lists a 1 year warranty, even though connection mentions a 90 day warranty for open box products (they don't do a great job distinguishing between open box and recon). They mention that open box products should look 100% new and they don't mention anything about missing accessories or expected wear/tear/damage.

Also a big warning, connection has a restocking fee. This isn't like buying something from amazon or another retailer like that. I know some people got burned by the recent $399 Mac mini M1 deal from connection where they had buyers remorse.

Good luck!

Edit: Go ahead and print the full product page as it lists a 1 year warranty, but it's possible it is only really supposed to have a 90 day warranty.
Edit2: Connection doesn't seem to consistently send shipment notifications. It's best to check your order in your account or my your order number.

Do you mind posting up when yours ships? I recently ordered a MBP and it seemed to ship pretty quickly.

I'm curious to see if this observation holds. They have the same iPad for sale (new) for $249 (like recent sales at other retailers). They list 96 remaining as of now: https://www.connection.com/produc...cac=Result

I'm curious to see if someone orders one, whether that quantity drops. That could indicate that they're selling new inventory as "reconditioned". Sorry, I geek out on stuff like this, appreciate you all tolerating and entertaining my curiosity :-).

I wonder what "open box" means. Never used, returned, used slightly. Who knows? These deals are always iffy to me.

Here's what I found after digging around:

Open Box

A Connection Open Box product is product returned that was previously opened, and may have had some limited use. Upon its return, the item is thoroughly tested by our factory-authorized technicians and inspected for completeness and cosmetic imperfections. If the item works at 100% functionality, is returned with everything that originally shipped from the manufacturer, and is free of cosmetic defects, it will be sold on our website at a substantial discount. Some items may be repackaged in a plain carton if the original carton was marked up or damaged from previous shipping.

Each Connection Open Box product comes with a 90-day PC Connection, Inc. LIMITED WARRANTY which insures that the product is as described. None of our competitors will offer you this same warranty. Should it arrive incomplete or damaged, or does not function within the first 90 days from the date of receipt, you must contact our Customer Care Center at 1.888.213.0259. If we are unable to resolve the issue with your Open Box product, we will replace it with an identical product, if available. If a replacement is not available, we will issue a Return Merchandise Authorization to you and refund your purchase price (once the item is received in our warehouse in the same condition it was shipped to you). ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND THE WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE DISCLAIMED. Note: This 90-day LIMITED WARRANTY does not cover restrictions outlined. The manufacturer's original warranty may not be in effect for all Open Box products.

Please refer to the product detail page for more information regarding the specific condition and warranty of the Open Box products.

Very helpful, thx. Still a lot of promises that to me is questionable. But may work out well.

Thanks! I'll shelve that theory for now 😁.

Thanks for the update, the status has definitely changed since this was first posted. I'll mark it as expired once the add to cart button disappears.

They required that I call from a landline phone registered under my business name. Since I only have a cellphone, they require either a wire transfer ($20 fee on their end) or mailed check. No credit/debit card.

Ugh, I was hoping this would be bypassed for an order of this value. I had to do the same for a MBP I ordered a few weeks ago. Luckily I had a landline I turned into a VoIP number that still worked. Sorry you ran into this antiquated hurdle!

One thing I just remembered... My MBP shipped prior to the landline based verification. Maybe see if it ships even without the call back?

Edit: Also ordered a Mac mini M1 a few months ago and didn't have to do the verification then. Strange!

LOL, most likely stopping OS support ( joke I can feel the flaming), but I got burned on that with the very first IPAD, $850.

Finally switched to Android, haven't looked back.

I do miss Apple's default font.

That said Android can screw you, screwed users by not allowing apps to permanently move data to the SD card, update an app, it automatically is moved back.

Guess what I spend time on.

Anyone know the OS life cycle remaining on this iPad, seems rather a new release? More important than a hardware warranty?

Apple doing major hardware change, orphanimg off models as code for apps written to new hardware?

I'm just asking, without apps it's a paper weight, especially the browser aging out of support.

Something doesn't seem right at that price point.

Thanks OP. In for 1. Have a sell offer through Decluttr.com for approximately what I paid in case I change my Mind.

Even after tax, the trade-in value at Best Buy is a few $ more than my total. Not a horrible way to offload it if you change your mind instead of having to deal with returning it to connection.
