suppliers jacking up prices and you have $10-15 footlong. The people that complains the loudest are those that don't understand the economics of the whole thing. Also if Subway finds that you have profitable store the will literally place a subway near that area as corp store and cannibalize your profits till they run you out of business. Also there nothing you can do about because it's in there franchise agreement. You also can't sue them and even if you could they have better lawyers than you. There entire business model is predatory. They expect you to take all the risk and once they find out that a location is profitable enough they will run you into the ground. Over the course of the 12 years I was involved I only netted around 140k. And that was with me still partially involved in the business. Basically that's why the prices are so high and why I heavily advise against purchasing a Subway as an "investment".
There's a John Oliver "Late Night Tonight" segment about Subway as a company on YouTube (and HBO/Max). As usual, it's a wonderful 20 minute exposé.

Now I just have to find 3 other people that want to go to Subway for lunch and split this deal. 🤔
But then, I somewhat resemble the "before" Jared from their old ads about how "healthy" eating at Subway is... 🤣
So it works out to $3.51 per footlong. That's a good Deal to Me.

I think Amazon has been sued for similar practices with their knock off Amazon basics brand by undercutting their sellers.
Anytime I've looked into franchises it never pencils out. Just look at all the crap that's come and gone over the years!! They suck you in with lies of easy process, support and how well you'll do etc. Should be criminal.
I haven't eaten at Subway in years, and now I know why. Use to be my favorite, but with all the price rises and hoops to redeem any type of promotion, I'm done.

While nobody is perfect, I'm pretty sure the business owners are better judges of what is more profitable. Many of them have tons of data from both with and without accepting coupons.
I am not very happy with subway nowdays even at the discounted price.
