Depends what you consider "better"

Generally speaking (not just with ceiling fans), DC motors give you more torque while using a lot less energy. So for a ceiling fan they usually are quieter and can push more airflow than an AC motor version, while also being cheaper to run.

The main advantage of AC motors are that they are cheaper and are pretty much maintenance free. DC motors (brushed motors) eventually require maintenance. There are brushless motors but those cost even more.

Isn't AC suppose to be better than DC?
Seems like the opposite, DC is better. Link: https://www.lightsonline.com/ceil...otor-types

yea also the DC motor fans have an inverter/control box and usually only can be controlled with a remote control (not wall switch).

If it's not a DC motor fan then it's not a good fan you need a DC motor fan to save on energy you can save about 20 watts per hour which adds up to about 12 cents per month and the savings will be good for the environment

What do you need to do when they need maintenance?

I have this exact fan on my covered patio in KS. The fan blades have had to be replaced multiple times due to high winds ripping them off the main housing. Getting them replaced was free through HD, but kind of annoying they broke off so easily given it is outdoor rated. Obviously YMMV, but that's my experience.

Anyone installing new/replacement ceiling fan in 2023 and not prioritizing their choice to include a DC motor, integrated led lighting, regardless if you think you will use it, and a CFM of at least 5000...you are not thinking long term. This product only has one of these features and should not be considered a viable option.
