Usually means book thru American, but a JAL flight. Which is a HUGE PLUS!

For S. Korea you book thru United, but always an Asiana flight..

When booking through American, but JAL is the one operating the flight (JAL metal), which baggage rules do we follow? American or JAL? Thanks in advance!

if you are booking through AA, then it's usually AA baggage rules.

American Airlines from past experiences. Used to be able to get 2 free check in bags in 2018 and 2020. They changed to only 1 free check in bag on economy.

Can confirm. We ended up on AA going there and JAL coming back. Two free checked bags up to 50lbs each. The good old days.

Are most AA flights from Los Angeles JAL operated? I'm actually heading to Tokyo in a few weeks and it's through AA from LAX. LOL.

Just FYI, a bunch of radioactive water was dumped into the ocean in Japan very recently...
Lol no it was completely treated and deemed safe. Really? You think a country who prides itself in being clean and super detailed oriented was going to let out dangerous radioactive water just like that? Plus most people go to japan for the cities, I doubt they're going to the ocean oriented towns in November/December

Are the $657 round trip ones really operated by JAL? I see only some flights on AA.com listed as operated by JAL and none of those are priced at $657. In contrast, all the $657 flights which do not list operated by JAL.

This is a good deal, previously it was AA basic economy flights from LAX to HND meaning no seat selection or free checked bags or flight changes, how do I view the flight change terms since I'm booking it through AA?

Depending on carrier, Asian flights even in BE fares often include checked baggage even when domestic or European fares don't (but you still often don't get seat selection or free changes). It's worth researching.

AA automatically seats you next to your kids under 12. I might look into Delta instead… Wink
