Not going to argue these filters are expensive but what you're saying is that you'd value saving $50 over the course of a year and trust this company more than your health? Yeah that's a hard pass for me but hey you do you.

I disagree, I used them before & the samsung filter has an additional NSF certification or two, along with tasting better.

Your Chinese filter is missing these important NSF certifications.

The NSF/ANSI 53 standard is used to certify water treatment products for removing or reducing concentrations of contaminants that have the potential to cause health problems. The standard establishes minimum removal requirements for specific health-related contaminants. Some of the contaminants included in this certification are lead, asbestos, volatile organic compounds, Cryptosporidium, perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and chromium.

The NSF/ANSI 401 standard is used to certify water treatment products for removing or reducing concentrations of contaminants that have effects that are not fully researched (i.e., 'contaminants of emerging concern'). The NSF established this certification due to increasing consumer concerns about potential effects from exposure to various emerging contaminants via drinking water.

You should delete your 1st misinformed post because you're risking other families all to save a few pennies.

Fair point about where they're manufactured. I assumed both were made in China but I looked it up and found that the Samsung filters are made in South Korea, so they're probably more reliable. I suppose there's always a risk when going with an offbrand/knockoff but my experience (sample size 1) is that they work fine. Others may have different experiences depending on the quality of their local water and how much filtration is needed. My local water is pretty good.

Check the price direct from Samsung. I checked my fridge in the SmartThings app earlier today because I couldn't remember which filters it takes. They had the same 4-pack for $79.99 shipped. Not bad if you can't do Costco. Of course YMMV.

The other issue I would mention is that there are so many counterfeit water filters out there it is ridiculous. I bought a set of 4 from Walmart and the outside of the box mentioned the bar color counterfeit tool but yet not a single filter had the color changing bar code. I had a similar issue with Amazon. I'd trust Samsung and Costco to sell legit filters but that's about it these days.

Not only do the aftermarket filters taste different, but I had a aftermarket home depot filter cause my fridge to overflow and leak overnight, causing significant water damage to my basement ceiling
