I'm looking for my first air fryer and settled on a foodi, but is this an inferior model because the reviews are strikingly bad!

Unfortunately its not too easy to compare because they seem to have at least a 10 in 1 , 11 in 1 and 13 in 1 that all appear the same 😆

This seems to be the "flip" model. Not the primo one. Ninja has terrible product naming

I got this model, SP251Q, during a woot scratch and dent slickdeal a few months ago and we've used it multiple times every day since, it's that great. We haven't used our actual oven once since then. Most of the time we use it to cook frozen pizzas, broil nachos, toast bagels, cook brownies. It heats up almost instantly which saves us so much time, is compact especially since it easily flips up out of the way, yet is large enough internally to meet all of our oven and airfry needs. We got a few more for family members that's how useful this has been for our needs.

Same, we got one from the Woot sale too. It replaced a ten year old black and decker toaster oven, and this one heats up SO much faster.

I just wish the vertical height was just a smidge taller, because baking rolls (the ones that rise) puts them uncomfortably close to the top heating elements when they bake.
