If you're going to use this to store records I highly advise that you lightly sand where any two pieces meet and then glue them together with wood glue before screwing in any hardware (i.e. screws, dowels, etc). When inserting hardware, apply some wood glue for any dowels, and apply Loctite for any two pieces of metal that touch. You may want to add a few diagonal back-braces as well. Make sure all pieces that are supposed to sit at 90 degree do so.

The ikea kallax are much sturdier. I bought this same cube organizer three years ago and is flimsy compared to what ikea offers.

So this thing is 6' x 6'? That's a pretty big bit of real estate.
OK... and your point is?

Can anyone compare these to the ikea kallax? Cube shelves like these can be absolutely trash, whereas the kallax you pay more but it is very substantial.

According to the specifications, it weighs 177 lbs. The material costs PLUS the freight costs would be substantial.

For the Kallax (boardgame fanatic?) enthusiasts, I've bought four of the 4x3 BHaG cube blocks and found them more than sufficient to hold hundreds of boxes of games. The Kallax just seems more expensive to me.
