this is a pro solar version, not pro sapphire solar version.
that said, i felt (just my opinion), that epix series is taking a lot of the 7/7x market shares at the MSRP. the screen quality and resolution is a must have for more advanced features like weather map and topo map, not to mention notifications. and once you get about 1 week of battery..... you hit diminishing return. charging it once a week vs once a month isn't nearly as significant as charging it once a day vs once a week.
the MIP display definitely has it advantage in direct sun and battery life, but there is a reason why everyone is moving to amoled

it is my understanding that 7 allows you to choose solar and sapphire where as previoulsy you can only get either sapphire or solar, but not both. but that doesn't mean you don't have to pay for the solar sapphire. also, sapphire garmine also come with titan bezel. so if you got stainless steel. you got gorilla glass instead

but yes, the flash light is one of those things that once you have it, you won't want to not have it. the epix kind of drop the ball here because they could at least implement what apple watch did instead of the 3 rings of light.
