Have owned one since 2021 and have almost 50 hours on it in that time. No issues with it whatsoever. I took someone on the forums advice at the time and ran it for an hour with eco mode off after purchase with the new oil and then changed the oil once again and at every 25 hours after. I only run clear (ethanol free) gas through it and love the ability to turn off the gas flow to the carb to let it run dry after each use. In doing this I have had zero issues with the unit.

Would definitely recommend getting an hour meter to know how long you've run it since each oil change, something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Magicalmai-Inductive-Motorcycle-Snowmobile-Waterproof-Hour/dp/B07Y3ZYBLW/ref=... [amazon.com]
The regular oil changes may be a bit excessive, but oil is cheap, so why not change it regularly?
This thing sips the fuel especially in eco mode. From a noise standpoint I would say it's marginally louder than an equivalent 2000 watt Honda, but comes at 1/6th the price so there's that.

If you are going to buy the little one, watch this video so that you know it's weakness, it has a design flaw that makes it work like a floor vacuum sucking up whatever is under it so you need to know not to put it on bare dirt or sand.

There is a coupon code that needs to be applied to get the $200 price, noted in OP, LABORDAYTWENTY.

Small engine, mechanic here. Everything this person said is true. please change the oil frequently. The oil in air cooled engines serves as a coolant not just a lubricant.

Anyone have one of these? Is the bottom air intake a big issue for you?

I recently got the dual fuel FIRMAN WH03242F 4000W refurb from ebay and it looked brand new. Currently $400 but the coupon takes $80 off making it a steal.

I purchased my original one from Costco on sale about 2 years ago. Runs great. I purchased a second one as a refurb from the eBay $200 deal. I just got it and it looks brand new but the kill switch didn't work. I assume that is why it was returned. Easy fix, ground wire was disconnected. As far as the intake being on the bottom just be mindful when running it and you won't have any issues. I always run mine on a hard surface or the back of a sxs.

In for the larger WH03242F 4000W with the additional $80 ff it's a killa deal.

It depends on what you want to run. If you just want to run a couple fridges and lights and tv and stuff, the small one will do. If you also must run an a/c unit on top of all that, and or your microwave, get the 3200w unit. The small one is nice and portable, the big one at least has wheels so you don't have to carry 100lbs all the time.
You can daisy chain the smaller ones to effectively double the output. I bought one for now, with the thought that I may get another one day.

Firman calls for changing the oil every 100 hours. 25 hours seems incredibly unnecessary.

I would essentially be changing the oil after every camping trip, rather than 2-3 times a year.

You can, but with the 2900/3200W one being only $240+tax right now, it seems like it might be more ideal to have one of each - the bigger 2900W when you know you might put some bigger loads on it, but also have the smaller 1600W for more portability (camping) and less fuel wasted if you're just running some lower demand devices. Compared to normal retail pricing, the $240 2900W (normally $750 at costco) is a much better deal.

That's what I'm doing, anyway... this 1600W will be an upgrade for my Sportsman 800W inverter gen (which got me through a 2 day outage, but had to be very carefully managed or it'd overload). The 2900W will be the main go-to for future power outages.

Anyone with experience good or bad with refurbished units from Firman or specifically buying one through the Ebay seller? I have a new unit in the box still from Costco from their last sale, but the same generator is just over 50% less. It was bought to become my emergency generator, run for a bit every now and then. I like the Costco return protection, but like the refurb price
I bought a larger unit but still a refurb a little over a month ago. Used it for 3 days straight at a racetrack and it was rock solid. Time will tell how it holds up but so far I'm satisfied.

I dont have this generator but I do own several inverter generators. Here are my 2 cents, (if buying the larger dual fuel generator) if you are planning to keep this as purely an emergency backup. Get your house wired to direct feed power to your panel via interlock or transfer switch whichever is allowable. If you live in an area that has natural gas service, hire a plumber to install a hook up so that you can run the generator off natural gas. Swap out the regulator from LP to NG on your generator and you're good to go. Never run gasoline unless its 100% gasoline w/o ethanol. Otherwise keep it NG only and wont ever have to worry about the carb gunking up.
