The model names are frustrating. The S7 MaxV is probably the best machine for most people. The more recently released S7 Ultra (no MaxV) and S8 Pro drop the front-facing color camera, and the infrared camera that's replaced it is a downgrade for obstacle detection and avoidance. It's possible that Roborock will be able to improve the no-Max / S8 / Revo obstacle issues through firmware updates but they're noticeably worse for the time being.

The S7 Ultra (no MaxV) and S8 Pro both have mop dryers built into the dock. They also have a bit more suction than the MaxV.

Vs. any of the S7's, S8 Pro has wider wheels (better traction), a non-removable mop plate (downgrade), two mop vibrators (upgrade), built in water storage instead of a removable tank (mixed bag), a different side roller (mixed bag), and dual brushes instead of a single brush. The brushes are getting mixed reviews. Seems they're better on carpet but that gaps between the rollers reduce performance a bit on hardwoods and tile. The S8 Pro's dock has bigger water tanks and better-designed handles.

I'd rate it as S7 MaxV (+buy a mop dryer attachment) > S8 Pro > S7 Ultra (no MaxV).

The Revo is a curveball. It's a great price:performance machine and makes the S7 Ultra no-MaxV a hard purchase to justify. Most people would be best served stepping up to the MaxV or S8 or dropping down to to the Revo.

Prices are same as last few FP refurb deals, so this should be getting more attention that it has so far. If you can live with less-than-best object detection and avoidance, sale prices on the Revo (699 on Prime Day and again for the Roborock anniversary sale) make most of this sale pointless . . . but the MaxV is still king if you've got a pet or kid that sometimes leaves things on the floor to foul up a robotic vac.

I am waiting for a refurb sale on the Q Revo (regularly on sale for $700 to $800). Hard to justify spending $1,000+ on a vac + mop.

The coupon is good till labor day. So that's 4 days from now. Does anyone know if they generally run out?

I am out of town till the 6th and don't want it delivered to an empty house, so I was going to order it on the 31st or 1st. But I'm worried I may not be able to.

Hard to say. Usually the s7 maxv ultra is in high demand during sales but this post has been relatively quiet this time.

Hopefully the Allstate 2 year warranty will cover it if it just completely dies. It doesn't seem to have any carve outs for "batteries". With that being said, I haven't had any experience claiming with Allstate.

I thought the S7 had a superior machine, but the S8 had a better dock.

I have 3 revo's and a dog that sheds like crazy and I have never had to clean any hair out of any of the rollers.

Sounds like you bought a 2014 roomba with a rubber brush with exposed bearings and you think they all work like that.
