According to comments, this charger requires at least a 25w PD charger to activate 15w charging. Otherwise it charges at 7.5w even with the apple 20w charger.

I had a wireless charger some time ago, but I barely ever used it because it used to heat up so much. Do they still do that?

No at least mine doesn't on the 14, use it in bed all the time it's been great

They definitely still heat up and I use mine in bed as well. There's built in thermal monitoring that can pause charging if it gets too hot. If you're worried, just make sure not to cover it under the blankets.
