Activate EPP discount

It was $80 over the weekend. Guess they raised it $1 more.

Worth it x 10000000%

Who knows how many cycles a used Nvme ssd has?

I mean, you can check and then return it if it has been cycled too many times. But these are typically open box returns, or very slightly used. Just from reading the SD comments on the other threads regarding the "refurbished" SSDs.

Plus, not everyone qualifies for EPP. I sure as heck don't, even though I would love to. Woe is me.

FWIW, i've bought about 10 refurb ssds from bestbuy. 9 were like new (less than 10 hours) one had over 100 hours which really isn't much worse

Same here. My BB refurbs have all been as new. There are incidents of returns sold as refurbs, where the customer swapped out a relabeled item, but that's pretty rare.

peeps on here buy something, use it for a week, see a better deal on something slightly faster and get buyers remorse and return the first one so they can justify the second.

You just made me drop my lime on this. Nice...I'll test it to see how used it was.

What about damaged sectors? I don't know much about ssds but I would be worried about static electricity damage due to a faulty install.

It does quite a bit - also has some performance benchmarking capabilities and diagnostic testing for drives. More info: https://semiconductor.samsung.com.../magician/

I use Crystal Disk Info https://crystalmark.info/en/softw...ldiskinfo/ to check the health information on an SSD. Worked out very well when I bought cert refurb last time.

I also have good experience with Geek Squad refurb Samsung SSD's, but at this price, it just doesn't make sense. Pay the extra couple dollars @ Samsung with the EDU discount for a brand new drive:

-5 year vs. 90 day warranty
-New drive is most likely already updated to the latest firmware. Older firmware versions have major issues IIRC.

You make it seem everyone simply has access to Samsung EDU discounts. Care to share some knowledge on how to obtain this without being a student/teacher?
