DEWALT Miter Saw, 12 Inch, 15 Amp, 3,800 RPM, Double Bevel Capacity, With Sliding Compound, Corded (DWS780) w/ $75 Coupon = $424

The DEWALT DWS780 12-inch sliding compound miter saw, has been designed to be precise and accurate enough for fine woodworking, yet durable enough for framing and deck building. The DWS780 is ideal for a variety of end users, including cabinet makers, trim carpenters, framers, installers, and many other professional contractors who require a product that delivers the accuracy, capacity, durability, portability, and ease-of-use that this saw offers. For visibility and accuracy when cutting, this saw features the XPS LED light and cut alignment system that casts a laser-like shadow on the work surface, showing users where the blade will come in contact with the material. Since it does not require recalibration over time or when changing blades, this alignment system can be more accurate and durable than traditional laser guides. The saw's dual bevel system includes the ability to bevel right and left from 0 to 49 degrees with positive stops at 0, 22.5, 33.9, 45, and 49 degrees in both directions, as well as a high visibility bevel scale. The saw also miters 60 degrees to the right and 50 degrees to the left and features an adjustable stainless steel miter detent plate with 10 positive stops, allowing for fast and easy adjustments. A cam lock miter button allows users to lock angles between detents for versatility on the jobsite. The saw features a powerful 15 amp motor that delivers 3,800 rpm. For convenience, the power cord is routed through the rail in the back, eliminating interference with the slide. Additionally, the saw offers an industry-leading combination of cut capacities, which includes 6-3/4 inch vertical capacity, 7-1/2 inch nested crown capacity, 13-7/8 inch horizontal capacity, and exclusive back fence design that cuts up to a 2 by 16 at a 90 degree angle and 2 by 12 at a 45 degree angle. To simplify and maximize vertical cutting capacity, the unit includes a rail lock latch for holding the head away from the fence.

I'm a trim carpenter. This is the Cadillac of miter saws right here. Love mine.
Shadow line never needs to be adjusted (unlike a laser line). That's the brilliant part about it.
Nov 9th 2021, I paid 629.00 for this saw.. its cheaper now, by far. $425 is a steal.

How is this price compared to what it has been in the past?

Obviously you have it sitting in a shop at 65lbs that's ridiculous to be moving daily. The Dewalt is the only one that has 22.5 bevel stops it makes cutting bullnose corners for your baseboard go so quick. The only down side is they haven't switched to forward facing rail guides like Festool and Makita then you wouldn't need the Glide

The DWS780 is 58lbs, hardly petite.

Last year I bought the DWS779 with stand for $299. I actually prefer the 779 over the 780 because that shadow line needs to be adjusted sometimes and my eyes don't.

It seems $499 was the going price on a quick SD search. It was $399 in December 2019 but the lowest was in May 2018 for $350.99 with the free rolling stand. Don't know if it was a price mistake or not but Amazon took $199 off twice where one of them should be for the free rolling stand. Amazon honored the price for a couple of days.

Nope… overpriced. Don't cave to inflation as companies take advantage of consumers. This was way cheaper a year ago.

I feel like the price difference between the 779 and this is a bit much, but this is a great deal for this saw. I think they've once again made the 779 harder to add the cut line back onto as well. I have an older 779 and added the cutline for about 5$ in parts and an hour or so of my time. Keep in mind this needs a lot of clearance behind it, also I strongly recommend the Rigid MSUV rolling stand that usually goes on sale for 99 bucks from the outlet around the holidays etc.

I was worried about the size but I already have that stand with a smaller saw on it so finally made the plunge!

Agree that's an awesome price. I'm pretty certain this was never cheaper, except when it was briefly $350 at Home Depot during the holidays a few years back. Pretty sure that was a pricing error too (likely for the DWS779)

Great price for this saw. Owned one years ago but hated how much space it took due to the rails extending so far back behind the saw. Moved over to the Bosch 12" Glide and never looked back.

I have a love hate relationship with the 779 for this exact reason. The saw is fantastic and I have no complaints about it's performance. It's the best saw I have owned to date, but as a woodworker, not a carpenter, it's overall size with the rear rails is too much. Looking to upgrade to the Bosch soon.

Do you mind sharing how or what you used to add the cut line to the 779? Thanks
A one sided flat "T10" size LED bulb, with a little sanding and filing I was able to make a nice slot and slide it into the little black plastic shoe that is replaced with the light assembly on the 780. You then run the 12v wiring through the "spine" over the blade held on by a number of torx screws back to the handle area like a 780. Lastly I used a very small 12v wall wart circuit board I scavenged and cut out a little bit of the handle structure to make room for it, wired it to the feed side of the trigger for 110v and the 12v to the light. Totally hidden, only potential con is the light is on any time it's plugged in, but you could easily add a switch. I wanted the saw to look stock externally and didn't want to pay 70 bucks or whatever for the OEM dewalt parts to swap out the handle and light.

Keep in mind to check against the received unit for the plastic guard recall/replacement. There should be a dot on the motor if it has already been rectified from factory.

I bought my DWS780 with the mobile stand for $350 during the great "free miter saw stand" price mistake of 2018. Now I'm hoping to sell it for the same price. Just too big to use in the garage and I'm tired of hauling it in and out. Dust collection is a joke too, even by miter saw standards. Great construction saw though.

I'm in the same boat. Got the 780 and stand for $350, great deal but I barely ever use it because it's so huge and my smaller saws are much less sloppy for the things that I need to miter. Thought I might use for decking, but not really needed because I ran everything long and cut it evenly with track saw. Building a big garage soon so might consider it to cut studs, but the circular saw is plenty for that. Maybe I should sell it.

I have this saw. Love and would recommend it at this price. The shadow cut line allowed me to do molding around the house like a pro. It's a bit heavy, but not impossible. I don't use it regularly so that doesn't bother me.
