Yes, is the common answer. Ported gives you more output (SPL) at the lowest frequencies, which is desirable for movies. Common wisdom is the sealed ones are slightly more accurate or tighter sounding. On the other hand, sealed subs can benefit from "room gain" and will often reach lower hz than advertised, especially in small rooms. Check out avsforums.com and the SVS threads if you want to go down the rabbit hole.

I will say if you've never experienced "good" bass in a home environment then you don't really know what your missing.

I had a cheap onkyo all in one setup for years and was very satisfied with it so I'm clearly not an audiophile. I decided to upgrade the sub and to do it properly. I went with a Sb-1000 and it was night and day. Sure the old onkyo could get loud but it wasn't nearly as low. The svs sub shakes my walls. You can feel gun fire and cannon in your chest.

My room is small so if you have a big room one of their larger models may be warranted but the key is how low these play.

It felt like a lot of money for a speaker and it was but every time that thing hits I can't help but smile.

I also have one. It's Probably the most compact 12" sub on the market and has great performance for the size.

If you really love bass and want kick and have the space for a little bigger, I would go with SB-1000Pro or 2000Pro (that's what I have as the LFE sub in my primary system). But of course those cost a lot more.

$350 is an incredible price for this quality of bass.

I have the PB-1000 in my home theater and kicks so much ass. I've had several entry-level subs over the years from Polk, Yamaha, Klipsch, etc. And this thing is on another level.

At this price, I'm tempted to get the SB-1000, too. To see how it sounds for music. The ported PB, already sounds great, though, and absolutely slaps for movies.

Can a PB-1000 be paired with its pro variant?

Definitely can! Both ported, (obviously), and the frequency response and power are so close to one another.

The DSP is really the only difference and honestly only an advantage if you regularly make adjustments and mostly just convenience at that.
PB-1000 has a 10" driver. Pro has a 12"

IMHO opening the SVS app and moving one immediately accessible dial is easier than trying to find same in my receiver's thousands of settings, none optimized for phone use.

Could just be me.....

Also for the PB 1000 series I thought the jump from 'standard' to Pro also did a 300W -> 325W amp change too? And a change from 10" to 12" drivers?

I own an PB3000 and a PB1000 Pro. One for the living room, one for a bedroom / projector TV room. Great stuff.

So much for SVS protecting the value of our purchases, huh? I'd always felt good about snagging a couple of SB-2000s for $499 (back when they retailed for $200 more than that) and now they seem to be everywhere for $499.
https://www.svsound.com/pages/bill-of-rights details the sixty day price protection. That's not to terribly bad. Plus the fact that it's completely automatic...

Huh, I thought they stopped making regular SB-2000 subs. $500 is too much for the standard 2000 nowadays.

Had to pull the trigger... for the longest time I have been in between this or the Klipsch SPL-100, but secretly been holding out for this. Great price

You know of a cheaper option that goes down to 19Hz?

I don't believe that these subs were available again as new before today. I just happened to be looking two days ago at maybe going for a second SB-1000 and didn't see them anywhere on the site, even in the outlet section.
