Edit: no, miles will not qualify for this promo.
X 1500 bonus points = $8.75. Made sense didn't it?
Throwing 60K = $350 onto the table only confuses things, because redemptions are now "dynamically priced" at each property. Much easier and mathematically sound to just multiply the value of a point by the number of points, since both are known and aren't variable.
Make sense?
They added the offer for me.
Don't know where you got $8.75, lol.
Once you are done realizing your math does not add up, the way i came up with my figures was taking a room listed for $350 and 60000 points.

Their valuation was 60,000 points gets you a $350 room. That makes each point worth $0.00583 (this valuation is low in my opinion, I usually go off $0.007 per point valuation).
You take the 1500 bonus points in the offer and multiply by the $0.00583 valuation the user you quoted cited, they get the $8.75 cash value mentioned.
I have a booking at a property for 41K that was going for $279 at the time of booking but that is now asking more than $1000. 41K=$279 implies points are devalued, but 41K=$1000 inflates them. Comparing a specific point redemption to a specific room price does not provide consistent valuation - but using the industry standard of 1 Marriott Point being worth 7/10ths of a penny cuts through the fog.
And as I said, it's more mathematically sound to just multiply the value of a point by the number of points, since both are known and aren't variable.
And yeah, I fat-fingered $0.008 into the calculation when I meant to type $0.007. My bad.
