Kind of a bad deal. Others (including the official product and Best Buys Insignia brand) make use of the controllers built in USB-C connection. These circumvent that and have their own charging port on the battery itself- and based on Amazon reviews it is the old Micro-USB input- leaving the USB-C port unnecessary.

May not be a deal breaker for some, but almost everything I have now is USB-C and I'm not going back to save a couple dollars.
Tempting but I prefer just swapping rechargeable AA batteries.
Well there is actually. Just not the way you're talking about.

Is the best way to go, in my opinion.

You simply charge with the USB c port, built into the controller. Once you add this into your controller, no need to ever open the battery door again.

Thanks for the catch, 3JABO.

If it's using micro-usb when there's a clear benefit of using usb-c, I consider that as e-waste in this day and age
