It's very good, especially at printing but the interface is a bit old and clunky. If you look carefully, it looks like a calculator on top of the printer. So if your getting it for the print quality, you won't be disappointed but if you want a slick new fashioned printer that has an easy interface, you won't be happy. Even when I had to connect to the printer through my network, I had to setup a manager user and password and a few other things that kinda irked me but afterwards, I was ok with it.

The things to keep in mind about printers:
1) inkjet or laser, they all ship with introductory cartridges. They are not full.
2) When comparing the cost of replacement cartridges look at the cost per page (yield). The laser toners almost always print WAY more pages than inkjet tanks.

Powdered laser toner doesn't dry up and clog nozzles, so the printer doesn't have to keep clearing them and wasting ink when you don't use it. You can turn off a laser printer for months, then turn it on and use it, without cleaning nozzles or replacing ink cartridges.

Finally a proper replacement for my 12-year old $65 HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw printer. Certainly not as slick a deal, but the replacement should drop right in and give me duplex printing as a value add (not to mention that the fuser on my HP finally appears to have been starting to fail).

Good luck!
Jon

Is there a brother color multifunction that's good with cheap refills? I love my cheap brother laser multifunction but it would be nice to have color. Or is canon, Epson or some other brand the way to go?

My older model LBP622Cdw was purchased from Staples for $160 with stacking coupons ($280 - $25 - $95) in May 2020 when the kids were still fresh into school at home.

Printing is okay but I wish it used the Canon NMFP port because if the IP address changes you'll have to change it on the port. I'm too lazy to assign an IP address as I use this infrequently but everytime I do print the kid's color papers (calendars, awards, etc) it does just fine. I use a trusty Brother HLL2320D for B&W printing.

It's also available directly from Canon for $199.99 but charges $16 shipping.

Have three Canon printers and I have to say their software sucks. I use macbook pro and need to reinstall and re setup the printer every time when I use it. Sometimes it is not even recognizable so I need to use a USB cable to print my docs.

I can't say for the printing quality as the hassle of using the printers via wifi kills all the good things about it, if any.

Cheap toner link? I mean.... color lasers are good for powerpoints and charts etc, but suck at printing photos. I just use a cheap brother laser for B&W and a shitty inkjet for when I print pictures... which now that I think about it, has been years. Wife has been going to Walgreens for photo prints for a while now.

Also have a couple of canon printers, one Multifunction. Can confirm their software , down to the setup program, and interface suck big nuts.

eta: I just checked the color toner prices… yikes!!!! $100/ea?!?

Be prepared to pay more than you did for the printer every time you replace the printer cartridges… I had one and sold it when I found out how much canon wants to replaced the cartridges

Bought the brother HL3270 over this when homeschooling. The Canon and HP multi laser printers at work were hell to get thru to print to MacOS and slow, the Brother has been flawless for almost 2 years now with no tinkering. Cheap third party toners too.
