It depends on the network where you live, but at some point if they upgrade it, you'll start getting issues. Comcast and Motorola keep blaming each other and neither wants to take responsibility. I had to go back to my old modem that maxes out at 300 mbps while still paying for 1 gbps
I'm a cable technician for *****y. I can say don't get this. Get an arris s33. I go to so many trouble call appointments for intermittent internet. All channels are locked on upstream and downstream. Docsis 3.1 bonds are in spec. It just randomly drops speeds and sometimes lags.
Google MB8611 xfinity reddit, lots of issues reported. No posts reporting the issues are fixed; hard to know if that's just that people only post to complain, and don't come back to post when things are fine, or if the issues are still underway. But xfinity users seem to have more success with the 8600.

Or to put it another way, the 8600 is currently recommended by Xfinity. The 8611 is only approved.

It may depend on how much time you have to mess around with it. There is a 30 day return policy. I don't know if it depends on where you are connecting, it very well may as Xfinity networks probably vary across the country.

Great deal. Are they going to release new modems and trying to get rid of old stock?

it's illegal to sell refurbished as new. Also, refurbished won't have 2 year warranty.

Absolutely do not buy if you'd be using on Xfinity.

Thank you. Very timely for me. I pulled the plug, I have Xfinity.
Website says 30 day money back guarantee, free returns and 2 year warranty. Hope this works out.

This reviewer tested this with Xfinity and did not have any issues.

I'm a cable technician for *****y. I can say don't get this. Get an arris s33. I go to so many trouble call appointments for intermittent internet. All channels are locked on upstream and downstream. Docsis 3.1 bonds are in spec. It just randomly drops speeds and sometimes lags.

MB8611 firmware cannot get updates, remains the original version 8611-19.2.18
Speed is limited to 200Mbps , regardless how fast your subscription is. Stay away MB8611

I've had the MB8611 with Xfinity 800mbps tier for 8 months and it has been rock solid.

Bonus: Using this over the Xfinity gateway gets rid of the stupid public Xfinity hotspot they make disabling so difficult.

People with xfinity service report issues with the S33 as well.

I have an s33 myself. Refuse to use an xb8 modem. I don't like to be locked down using their dns. No issues with the s33 except for the heat it generates. I have a usb fan on it to keep it cool. No timeout errors, no lost syncs unless it's a plant issue with xfinity. Best purchase I've made and favorite modem so far that I've seen.
