Be advised! The saw by itself is nice for a corded style. But, when it is attached to the pole, the thing is ungainly and very top-heavy. Not easy to control when used as pole saw. Unwieldy, unsafe and I do not recommend in the pole saw mode. You'll be disappointed:-(

Harbor Freight has their labor day coupon of 25% off and a 10 ft pole saw for around $60 at regular price. The brand is "portland" I beleive. I borrowed the saw a few weekends ago from a brother and liked it so much I bought one for myself even though I probably won't need one for a long time now. It seems pretty well built for a harbor freight purchase and isn't near as top heavy as the craftsman. The saw is not detachable from the pole however.

This. I did some research on this because I'm in the market for a pole saw, and it looks like most of the reviews mention how heavy it is and how hard it is to control when fully extended. For this reason, I decided to pass on this deal.

If this is the model that can be a chainsaw or a pole saw, while it is heavier than a regular polesaw the weight can help it cut through big limbs like butter but tire you out quicker. You definitely have to be careful with it at full extension or else it will try to break itself (as with all polesaws using fiberglass, plastic, and rivets). I have the black and decker version of this and it is an absolute beast punching way out of its weight class. It outcut several Stihl and Husqvarna 16"-18" chainsaws that were in proper order, and it outlasted 3 Kobalt 18" electric saws that weren't even pushed that hard (poor design/ventilation). I regularly used appropriate techniques to cut through MANY 12-16" logs with the black and decker 10" electric 8 or 10 amp and it did it very quickly.
