No, but I recommend using it a few times during the month you are obligated to pay for service. Just make sure the phone is on prior to the 6-month mark.

If its on. Perhaps even if not but when you next turn it on. Don't know. They used to have an app to do it and I wasted a lot of time trying to find it. Mine showed UNLOCKED a day or two after the required period.

I did the Iphone 11 and Galaxy S21FE through Metro but went with Boost for my Moto Stylus just so I could get it unlocked immediately. The Stylus is actually a decent phone but keep in mind that it's ginormous. I just use it to download and watch Netflix and hold my Freeup sim.
