For those wondering what this place is like, I can speak on the Fort Worth location. We have annual passes and go at least twice a month. It is in a mall that is almost dead, so very few stores left. The attraction itself is pretty low rent as well.
My 10 year old twins love to go because you can actually feed and interact with the animals, but I would not go myself without the kids. Also, be aware that you pretty much cannot do anything without buying tokens, so you are going to have to spend about 20 bucks even with the free admission. So bottom line, if you have kids, do not mind spending about 20 bucks on tokens, and do not mind the less than stellar conditions of the mall and the attraction, then go for it. If you are only going once, I would recommend spending the money for some premium interactions as well.
I know that is not a ringing endorsement, but my kids do have an absolute blast every time we go. Just know what you are getting into. If you come in with the right expectations, you can have a really good time. If you do decide to go, be sure to check the website for any premium attractions you want to do. You'll want to reserve those in advance. And yes, those also cost extra. Even with some premium attractions, you will probably spend a maximum of 2 hours here as it is not very large.

What a great response, thank you for posting. Was trying to figure out the draw because the one near me is Folsom which is 20 miles east of Sacramento and not much there except for folks who missed the state fair.

complete garbage. They keep large animals in dirty, filthy enclosures. I noticed several animals just pacing back and forth obviously in distress. They basically spend their entire lives in a tiny enclosure. Staff is nice, but obviously nobody give a crap about the animals. I went from thinking 'oh this is educational for my kids' to 'god damn, those animals have it shitty and i guess i'm paying to have them continually kept in small, filthy, smelly enclosures.
I'm not normally this vocal, but this aquarium made me decide that I'm never paying or giving my business to this type of abuse ever again, even if it's free (face it, nothing is free...gas, tolls, time, gift shops, food, etc. It adds up quick)
Really just echoing others' impressions. Went to the CT location about a month ago because of the previous free ticket deal. Nice to interact with the animals but it was depressing and stunk. Admission was free but most things inside require purchasing tokens to participate in. Not something I'd be going to all the time even if the kids wanted to go.
The one in UT smelled like fish, but it wasn't the fish. It was the pioneer exhibit. Except it wasn't an exhibit, it was just a group of people that lived a certain way. Probably an experience you will only get in UT. In a way it was a 2 for 1 experience. We couldn't breathe, but we made it through.

Still have 4 tickets from the free deal last year. Says on e-mail "General admission tickets are valid any day, any time." Wonder if they are actually still good...

Those are no longer valid. The location in Fort Worth has printouts stating that.

It is not worth it. I went to the Fort Worth location just two weeks back and saw the pathetic condition these animals live in. You would spend at most 1.5 hours that too if you are with a kid who is pretty enthusiastic about sea animals. I am not buying it even though this is free.

It was honestly depressing. Tiny enclosures. Animals overfed and overhandled by the public. Felt like a circus sideshow.
