Part way through, I see this message:

" Set up your AT&T gateway and connect all your devices to Wi-Fi (To ensure the best experience, use the AT&T gateway—which is included at no extra charge.)"

Is there any reasons to not use their device and go buy one? I'm so used to owning my own modem to avoid monthly "device fees", so it feels weird that they're just offering it for no charge.
On the fiber they only allow their own device. You can add a second device and pair them (some kind of channeling thing?) but I had a $200 nighthawk and their fiber modem was much superior alone. I only tried the duo to get a pinhole working to block ads but their device doesn't allow for custom DNS that I could find.

i'm paying around $10 on average more per month than my Comcast for my internet. but hear me out:
I'm supporting a local company that offers good internet
prices are fixed and never increase and i never have to negotiate ever so actually it is cheaper since my Comcast doubles the price by the end of the year.

it is one less thing i have to do every year to call negotiate to get better price!

I started this process a couple weeks ago. I've gotten the email for the $150 reward, the $50 Reward (I think it was ACTNOW), and the $100 (FALLNOW) reward. I also got an NVIDIA 6 month promo reward, and the email about the reward for cancellation fees charged by xfinity. Once I get the final xfinity bill I'll submit that one so it should be $60/month, $300 rewards, and my cancellation covered. No real use for the Nvidia gaming promo.

As someone else mentioned, you have to use theirs on fiber. But setup was super easy and I only use their modem for the connection. I have my own mesh network behind it. It took a little configuration to set their gateway as a passthrough (plenty of web resources explaining it). I could not be happier with the switch

I got the Nvidia one and the ETF one but I don't need that one. No fees for switching from Spectrum. Still no $100 or $50

So far ATT Fiber is my favorite ISP comparing to my previous ones: comcast, prodigy, spectrum, T-mobile.
I am on 500mbps for $65 but I get well over 700mbp sometimes and averaging at around 600mbps.
I have no data cap and I stream my plex videos in full quality if wherever I may be can handle the similar bitrate speed.

I'm happy with the ATT fiber internet service.

yup, can't avoid ATT gateway. I did pretty much similar what you did. put the mesh as DMZ from the ATT gateway and control my ports and firewall through the mesh. works like a charm.

Switched from cable and am completely happy with the service. My internet NEVER drops anymore and they went above and beyond to install, having to bury cables, get permits, etc. I received all the gift cards promised and they offered to cover any cancellation fees but I did not have those from the previous provider.

I switched to ATT Fiber for one week before having to cancel the service. Day 1 everything worked great, but on day 2 the internet went down. Then I was told it would return by 10pm, then by 3am, then by noon the next day, then by 10pm, then 3am . . . this continued for 5 days. 5 days without internet, without any updates on when it would be restored, just every couple hours ATT saying it would be fixed soon. After a week I cancelled my service. Internet was still down with no estimated time of return when I left.

Is T-Mobile still data capped? I tried it and less then 1 week it became unusable because it was so slow.

Be careful of AT&T's promotion. Make sure you have all screenshots of the promotion rewards. I recently opened an AT&T fiber 300MB service. I was supposed to get $100 plus an additional $50 rewards card. Both are in my shopping cart before checkout. As soon as I paid for it, the $50 rewards was gone. I called their C&S and they told me they never saw it on their end so they couldn't honor the $50 one. So make sure you have all the proofs.
