I figured I'd share their deals because I've bought from them before and some stuff goes under the radar here. You can check out their reverb [reverb.com] feedback [reverb.com] if you're still unsure.

It just slightly better in lots of little ways that add up to a noticeably nicer instrument on the whole.
Not that I wouldn't buy a current day Squier, but I still end up paying extra to buy the Fender Player models instead.

Now, have the quality of Squires increased over the years - maybe. Can you get some MIMs that have issues - certainly. Can you get a MIM used for $500 ish if you look - sure. Is the $1150 retail price on these a joke - definitely. For this price tho you can get new and it could literally last you the rest of your life. Full disclosure- I did drop in new pickups years ago, but usually play through pedals/spark anyway. If you're not gonna drop the extra few hundred for a used MIA, this will do / rant off

The other thing that can factor in is that the MIM Fender will have a better resale value EVERY TIME. With a Squier listing, you always have to go looking to see if it's one of the entry level guitars (Sonic, Bullet, Affinity) or one of the nicer ones (Classic Vibe, 40th Anniversary). Most guitar buyers concerned about more than the price see "Squier" and keep scrolling. I'm not one of those myself, but I think I might be in the minority.
