It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

I know 6 tesla owners (friends/family), model s and model 3. Most have had their cars for longer than a year, zero problems. They're the easiest cars on the planet to maintain. I'm so glad I'll never waste hours of my life in a dealership service department ever again. Thank god.
It has less problems? Wait till you're out of warranty and need something as simple as a battery change, and wiper or windows regulator replaced.

You will be sticker shocked with Tesla outrageous service labor cost.

You laugh but he is correct. The model S Plaid is one of the fastest production cars made so far. Can you name another sedan under $100K that do 0-60 in 2 seconds?
Closest ICE car I can even think is 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Price: $187,400
0- 60: 2.6 seconds

I have Model 3 Performance and can tell you for sure the instant power is hard to beat. Its a huge achievement of automotive engineering for sure.

QUICKEST car, not fastest. Why people can't get this straight I have no idea. And nobody in the real world can use the fastest cars anyway. but the quickest can be exercised just for fun.

They will continue to drop prices. No one wants a shoddy built squeaky toy only good for straight line speed. At this price it's a hard sell over the Rivian R1S or Kia EV9.

most people i know who own teslas came from bmw/porsche/audi, including me. those cars cost $2000 per year to maintain out of warranty.

Dear, I personally own the Base Model S with some options which can hit 0-60 3.1 sec according to Tesla. Have you even driven a car that hits this much fast 0-60? All I needed to do was set the mode to Insane with sport. And I can dare to say that I can pretty much beat any car on the road, I live in Orange County, California. I am very confident that I can beat 95% of the cars on the road if it isn't the same Tesla or other electric vehicle, Lucid or Rivian. From the traffic light and slam the gas is all you need to beat others. If you haven't felt this please do not talk more about this Fast and the Furious feeling. You will think you are in the FASTEST CAR on the road and it is almost 95% true since you will never hit your max speed nor 0-1/4 mile run. All it matter is 0-40,60 or maybe 80 when you get on the freeway. There is no public road you can run so fast. Feel the power brother then talk please.
Lol until someone drives faster than 149mph.

I currently own two Teslas, a 2023 Model S and a 2022 Model 3. The Model 3 had 3 minor problems, 1. Rattling sound coming from the front left door panel when listening to music, 2. Front center lower plastic pieces were not fulling installed, 3. The back plastic panel of the front driver's seat came off when I lean back.
And I haven't had any problem with the Model S yet.
I know there is still some panel gap issues which is very well known. Tesla's repair service is just very bad and they are backed up for few months in Orange County, CA. I've had one minor car accident that required to replace the front bumper of my model 3, and I took it to the local repair shop which took over 3 months since everything was ready to fix at the repair shop, but the original parts weren't read from Tesla. I've seen so many repair shops that fix Teslas but the problem is in the supply chain since there are Teslas everywhere now.

Curious if any recent new Tesla model owners have information on quality control. With all the past reports of quality issues that are misrepresented, and my own person experiencing riding in a newer model 3 for lyft and asking the driver on quality, wonder if anything changed?

For those interested, Lyft driver gave conflicting information - love the car, had to replace the battery, and had to get various repairs on his car 'many' times (his word). Which it contradicts his comment of minimal issues from an earlier point in our chitchat.
We picked up our MYLR at the end of June and I was definitely nervous about build quality. To summarize, it was beyond my expectations with a two minor issues: 1) I found two extremely small bubbles in the rear top glass (looks like a manufacturing issue?) and 2) some slight scuff/scratches on the front hood. No panel gaps, no rattling, no other issues. Tesla did offer to resolve the two issues, but they are so minor I decided to just leave it alone. I was able to buff out the minor scratch on the front hood.

We now have about 4k miles on it and it's great. I love driving it everyday and the technology is beyond anything else available in the the market. The only other critique I would have is the ride quality and noise is a little above others, but we are coming from a BMW X5.

If you asked me a year or two ago if I would buy a Tesla, I would have laughed at you.

My March 2019 3 has no rattles. 55k miles on it now. Range was 315 initially. Currently says 306 miles.

Had to replace the 12v under warranty at 3 years because the car sensed it was dying (normal for Florida, happens to all my cars). Front windshield replaced due to flying rocks.

I rotate my own tires, had alignment done once, filled up washer fluid bottle twice.

That's it for all repairs and maintenance for 4.5 years.

edit: It costs me about $40/mo to charge the car. The car won't ever pay for itself, but the fuel savings means it will be a sub 30k car by the time I replace it (usually ~6 years of ownership).

Still way overpriced imho. I'll never be able to find that minimalist interior attractive and the iPad style interface is just something i can't stand. My 2019 Hyundai Ioniq ev will only cost me about $20k by the time I'm done paying it off. More lower kWh options like my car, with a more standard/traditional type interior and look need to be marketed.
A 150mile-ish range ev, like my current vehicle, satisfies 99% of the driving my family needs. I get that doesn't work for all, but if many were being realistic and honest about what they need, that is more than enough driving distance for a very large number of people.
Probably the only way we will see $25-30k euv's that are decent is if that battery pack gets smaller, and that would be a very good thing for people who are interested, but currently priced out.
60kwh+ battery packs are simply unrealistic for most use cases, and unless the tech can find cheaper and more robust minerals than the current lithium, etc. they are only going to get more expensive.
Ev'a are not going to save the planet, and honestly, probably do more harm than good currently. But they are sporty/fun to drive, low maintence and super convenient. A lot of neat tech in there.
Teslas are ridiculous in both good and bad ways. I get the appeal, but I'll never be interested in them as I think they are ugly, cumbersome, and most importantly, a bad value proposition.
With that said, my next vehicle will probably be a hybrid, but it all comes down to cost and what we need vs what is available. My Ioniq was a once in a lifetime deal, but who knows, maybe the gov will go full retard again and offer up some more ridiculous subsidies. 🙄😅

the craziest shit is the tesla plaid runs 8s in quarter mile, for a gas car to run 8s the drag strip requires you have a f**king parachute on the back that deploys to slow you down

why is this? its because for a gas car to run 8s it usually means theyre 1500hp and their 0-60ft speed isnt that fast but their trap speed is approaching 200mph, which means if the car loses control the driver will almost certainly die

plaid doesnt have 1500hp, what it does have is instant torque and extremely good grip. The trap speed is slower than most 8 second cars

the plaid is an engineering masterpiece. no other way to look at it.
