It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

This is the weirdest take I've seen. Just because a vehicle uses an electric motor and batteries does not make the price any more flexible than one that uses a gas engine and fuel tank.

The actual reason for this price drop is not just because of Tesla being a tech company but because tech companies operate on large margins. An iPhone costs $300 to make and sells for $1000. Typically, the car industry has run on such slim margins because of competition and lack of innovation. Tesla spent a lot of time and effort innovating on production costs ("the machine that builds the machine"), so now they are reaping those rewards by having flexible pricing. Again, it has nothing to do with batteries and electric motors, but more with Tesla's approach to the market.
...no iphones do not cost $300. apple spends an enormous amount of R&D on new camera sensors, new screens, new ARM at lower nanometers, and they spend billions on making new versions of iOS. apple has to recoup those expenditures when they price a new iphone

in comparison, a tesla is a battery with wheels.

tesla owns a huge part of their battery vertical, they reap the rewards as batteries get cheaper to produce. batteries are cheaper day after day if you own the vertical. period.

but yes they also invested a lot of money into the factories and gigacast that make the metal frames as well.

tesla is apple if apple released a 1 new iphone every 8 years instead of every year.

for people looking at sedans the real slickdeal is the new model 3. unless you do a lot of road trips then the model s 405 mi range is pretty badass.

for families who qualify for the fed tax income limit the model X is possibly one of the greatest family vehicles possible though at $72000. best crash rating possible.

Glad I got my Plaid on release. $18k price drop in a day?! That's not their typical grand or two drop that stings but is easy to get over. I don't know how I'd handle this if I'd have picked one up recently
Welcome to the club! My Model Y price dropped more than $15K. Time will heal the pain.

even if you've ordered and not taken the delivery, they adjust with the lower priced. Same thing happend to us with Model Y earlier this year. no need to cancel the order.
Youre absolutely correct. My friend had ordered the X yesterday and he checked his order again today and they automatically updated the invoice. He ended up saving an additional $10K overnight and he didnt even know it! LOL

Does fsd transfer? I haven't been in the loop. Own a 2017 S with fsd and might want the x now. I've been holding out for the lucid gravity though.
I believe they announced FSD will transfer to new vehicles for a limited time. Most likely for people who have been contemplating to buy a new S or X would jump at these good deals.

Weird take considering Tesla wouldn't have had its huge head start in EVs without getting hundreds of millions in loans from the Obama admin that they couldn't get investors for in the private sector.
Let it be known that they bought bankrupt Solarcity and saved it, paid off loan before it was due with full interest and pre-payment penalty- It saved taxpayers money- unlike the GM - which took money and declared bankruptcy.

Get a Tesla, they said... because they depreciate much slower than gas cars. $18k drop in a day. $50k drop in a year compared to last year. Yikes
