It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Still way overpriced imho. I'll never be able to find that minimalist interior attractive and the iPad style interface is just something i can't stand. My 2019 Hyundai Ioniq ev will only cost me about $20k by the time I'm done paying it off. More lower kWh options like my car, with a more standard/traditional type interior and look need to be marketed.
A 150mile-ish range ev, like my current vehicle, satisfies 99% of the driving my family needs. I get that doesn't work for all, but if many were being realistic and honest about what they need, that is more than enough driving distance for a very large number of people.
Probably the only way we will see $25-30k euv's that are decent is if that battery pack gets smaller, and that would be a very good thing for people who are interested, but currently priced out.
60kwh+ battery packs are simply unrealistic for most use cases, and unless the tech can find cheaper and more robust minerals than the current lithium, etc. they are only going to get more expensive.
Ev'a are not going to save the planet, and honestly, probably do more harm than good currently. But they are sporty/fun to drive, low maintence and super convenient. A lot of neat tech in there.
Teslas are ridiculous in both good and bad ways. I get the appeal, but I'll never be interested in them as I think they are ugly, cumbersome, and most importantly, a bad value proposition.
With that said, my next vehicle will probably be a hybrid, but it all comes down to cost and what we need vs what is available. My Ioniq was a once in a lifetime deal, but who knows, maybe the gov will go full retard again and offer up some more ridiculous subsidies. 🙄😅
Sirmixpix for president.

Youre absolutely correct. My friend had ordered the X yesterday and he checked his order again today and they automatically updated the invoice. He ended up saving an additional $10K overnight and he didnt even know it! LOL
Applause Anyone know a car stealership that would do that?

Dear, I personally own the Base Model S with some options which can hit 0-60 3.1 sec according to Tesla. Have you even driven a car that hits this much fast 0-60? All I needed to do was set the mode to Insane with sport. And I can dare to say that I can pretty much beat any car on the road, I live in Orange County, California. I am very confident that I can beat 95% of the cars on the road if it isn't the same Tesla or other electric vehicle, Lucid or Rivian. From the traffic light and slam the gas is all you need to beat others. If you haven't felt this please do not talk more about this Fast and the Furious feeling. You will think you are in the FASTEST CAR on the road and it is almost 95% true since you will never hit your max speed nor 0-1/4 mile run. All it matter is 0-40,60 or maybe 80 when you get on the freeway. There is no public road you can run so fast. Feel the power brother then talk please.
I do own a car that can hit that and also hits a current top speed of 192 MPH that I have been able to achieve before running out of road with Draggy slips to back it up. My initial statement isn't that they aren't quick or aren't fast, I was just laughing at the statement that it's "the fastest car ever made", Dear.

I bought mine because it was an amazing car, nearly 5 years later it still is - and getting better with each software update. Of all the various reasons for a car to depreciate, lower prices on new cars to help more people afford EVs doesn't bother me.

The way hes slashing prices looks like he might just shut down Tesla eventually
I forgot he even has anything to do with Tesla the way he has ruined Twitter or X. Watching him lose billions and probably lose control over Tesla has been amazing to watch.

We bought a used 2018 75D X early last year for the same price as a new one now. I sorta feel like as if I invested in bitcoin. Resale value just tanked for sure.
I did that with a model 3 performance, don't think about it. You made the best decision at the time, no one sees the future. Enjoy the great car you have.

I understand the free market, but damn Tesla really doesn't know how to treat customers. They've scammed $15k from people with a FSD feature that doesn't work; price drops like this with no lube for people who took delivery the day prior, etc.
Since most upgrades for a tesla are software downloads, I think they should be giving free upgrades to those that got screwed the past few years. The car is already capable, and they hold the features hostage.
Now, before I get hate bc "if prices went up, you'd be estatic" comments. My biggest pet peeve is the exponential depreciation. All new vehicles have a depreciation value. But when tesla drops the price $10k+ overnight, that previously bought vehicle is worth considerable less. Imagine taking delivery of a model X last week and having it totaled today. Insurance is gonna bend you over and you'll be severely underwater on that loan

Get a Tesla, they said... because they depreciate much slower than gas cars. $18k drop in a day. $50k drop in a year compared to last year. Yikes
Anyone buying a new car as an investment asset is an idiot.

There has been a quiet, but rather large price drop in new Tesla vehicles, to the tune of approximately $20,000

I placed an order on 8/27/2023 for a MX at $100,880 before any discounts. From my MVPA. at that time:

Quote :
Description Total in USD
Model X Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive $98,490
Midnight Silver Metallic Paint $1,500
20'' Cyberstream Wheels Included
All Black Premium Interior with Ebony Décor Included
Five Seat Interior Included
Yoke Steering $250
Autopilot Included
Pay-as-you-go Supercharging Included
Tow Package Included
Subtotal $100,240
Destination Fee $1,390
Order Fee $250
Referral Bonus ($1,000)
Total $100,880
As of 8/31/2023 and an updated, the price was reduced to $80,880.

There are no "inventory" discounts that I can see at this time, but both the main web site for S/X new vehicle purchases, and existing inventory are showing such a reduction. This includes the LR and Plaid models.

Please note:

* Tesla has revamped things so you cannot take a vehicle from one State and try to have it delivered to another (registration) for that custom build
* Certain States and locations offer discounts on EVs, like NJ which doesn't charge sales tax.
* There are taxable benefits for business owners, along with deductions for vehicles under certain price points ($80K) but check w/ the professionals on this one if you qualify

Glad I got my Plaid on release. $18k price drop in a day?! That's not their typical grand or two drop that stings but is easy to get over. I don't know how I'd handle this if I'd have picked one up recently
Then stop buying cars at this price point, It's obvious that its not 3x or even twice as good as cars in the 30-40k range. So it should be apparent there is no value.

Curious if any recent new Tesla model owners have information on quality control. With all the past reports of quality issues that are misrepresented, and my own person experiencing riding in a newer model 3 for lyft and asking the driver on quality, wonder if anything changed?

For those interested, Lyft driver gave conflicting information - love the car, had to replace the battery, and had to get various repairs on his car 'many' times (his word). Which it contradicts his comment of minimal issues from an earlier point in our chitchat.
i got the early 2023 model Y. the QC isn't great (panel gaps, paint over run..)
but as far as driving goes? as side of 2 reboots (when center console freeze). no issues what so ever. 7k miles so far.

but the biggest selling to me, is the auto pilot, even the free one is light years ahead of my other top of line Toyota that was bought just 2 year before... like a smart phone vs a abacus level of difference. i use it whenever i am on high ways.

That's not at all what he said, and any accelerated loss of value is not good, regardless of asset or liability. No reason to try to re-write a bad story.
