It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

isnt Rivian a better car at this price range ? bigger and better..
Have both a performance X 6 seater and the R1S. I still prefer the X overall. Handles better, faster, better passenger comfort with the captains chairs, and lifetime free supercharging doesn't hurt. Rivian has more storage, gets closer to rated range, nicer interior and is a true SUV with off road capabilities.

I dont understand why this deal is getting downvoted. this is a very good deal for those that can afford it.
Probably because 80k for bottom tier reliability (when electrics are supposed to be more reliable...) isn't very appealing to a slickdealer.

Rivian as a company still loses money on every rivian they make

imagine buying a car that has no profit margin

Its going to be like owning a saab, what a joy to get repairs done 5 years down the road theres no parts available.
LMAO so you don't buy a well buiit quality capable eSUV if the production cost is 95K and they are asking you to pay 80K for it? Wow... Do you drive a car for over 5 years so you have to worry about parts from now itself? Wow...
Wait..are you a buyer who pays 50K for a car having production cost of 20K ? So maybe a Tesla for you...

Meanwhile...
Rivian reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and sales on Aug. 8. The company turned in an adjusted loss of $1.08 per share while revenue roughly tripled to $1.12 billion.

oh wow better than expected.. they have $1.12 billion of revenue but lost $1B in one quarter... So they spent $2 billion dollars to make $1B of trucks? LOL jesus christ.
insanity.

if you read their earnings they say they can operate about 1 more year like this before they are gonna go bankrupt. they fully admit it. LMAO

did they get rid of the 3 years free supercharging? don't see it mentioned any more

if so that eats a large chunk of the price drop.

You mean like a car lease. Or a home rent?
leasing a car without an LLC/s-corp is quite foolish. the only time leasing made sense is german cars where theyre basically worthless the moment the warranty expires.. or if theres some crazy lease special like there was on bolts and leafs years ago.

Leasing a very reliable electric vehicle is you letting the dealer/brand bend you over. period.

Rent is totally diff, if you can lease you can afford to also buy a car. A PMI is not required on a low down payment lease/buy

I think so. They have a referral program now and you can use those referral points to use on accessories or upgrades or free supercharging.

Does fsd transfer? I haven't been in the loop. Own a 2017 S with fsd and might want the x now. I've been holding out for the lucid gravity though.
There's an offer for the last three months: If you can take delivery by the end of September you can transfer FSD.

Have they fixed the shoddy build quality of the interior, or do people not care anymore?

18650 is smaller and can shed heat faster than larger cells. Heat is the most damaging to cells, next to keeping it charged to 100% for extended periods.

Mandate these heaps all you want, it's obsolete based on the battery and the quality on these is horrible.

This is slickdeals not stocks subreddit lmao. Do you want to make a product for $10 and sell it for $5? That would be slick deal. Rivian build quality for first time try is undeniably super awesome as compared to first Tesla produced.
