It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990

Same here fortunately/unfortunately. I'd been tempted to replace my 13 year old hybrid with one anyway until I got my $750 Virginia "property tax" bill for my 6 year old Promaster Cargo Van. A new Tesla would probably be double that every year for the foreseeable future. Forget it.

$90k for the fastest car ever made? That's a great price. I think this is the cheapest their top performance model had ever been
It is a very fast car, I'd argue the Lucid Air has faster speeds. As a Taycan owner though not sure the thrill of Tesla over a Porsche.

I'm not sure, I might have to do the lease loophole than in 2024.
What is the lease loophole?

so you pay $35000 to rent a lucid for 3 years and then you give the car back and have nothing to show for it?

seems like an enormous waste of money
Nothing stops you from buying at the end plus lease actually includes 7.5k fed credit that financing doesn't get (unless you have no income and can afford 100k car).
If you do the math, leasing based on current Lucid offers is financially advantageous compared to financing anything else.

Do not buy! Tesla are the worst most defective cars ever made. Remember tesla is a tech company not a car company. Not to mention the insurance cost is expensive!

My 2015 S needed a replacement battery the day after the 8y warranty ended. $15k. They took the other battery back. And the replacement was refurbished from another 2015.

So the answer is you get rid of the car at the 7.5y mark. Or you decide it's worth $15k/4y to keep it running.

It sucks but it's your worst case scenario and not totally unlikely to happen. And all of that said I love the stupid car and still choose it.
What do you mean by worth $15k/4y? Are the replacement batteries only expected to last for ; years. If you don't mind my asking, how many miles did you have on your Tesla when the battery died?

Charging network right now is the bigger deal until others can use Tesla's charging network. So many stories people getting to charging stations with little power to find there are no functional chargers and had to get towed
I can charge at work at very low rate. Long trips are rare, but kia ev friend says electrify America is manageable on long trips.

I have a question. What happens 3 or 4 years down the line when the battery health is down like the phones we use. Do you pay to get the batteries replaced or is there some kind of coverage? Been wanting to get an EV but holding myself back thinking what happens next.
You will be fine in 3-4 years. The real question is what will happen after 10. There is currently plenty of 10-20 years old ICE cars on the road. We are about to be flooded with Tesla scraps is what I predict, as no one is going to pay $15k-20k for new battery for a 10+ old vehicle.

Clearly, owning a vehicle is heading towards the luxury item, with many lower tier models discontinued and huge price hikes. EVs contribute to that too, and probably for no good reason (should be cheaper to produce than ICE, but greed never sleeps).

Electric cars aren't for everyone.

Has the U.S. electric car market currently become saturated?

Is Tesla cutting prices because there's actually competition now?

These are legit questions.

I've always been intrigued by the performance aspects of Electrics, but other than the looks of the model S no other Tesla models have ever appealed to me.

I still believe that the power and charging infrastructure, and the current EV battery chemistries aren't even close to mass adoption levels yet. Will all these things eventually happen? Probably.

When will Mass adoption happen? Who knows.

Prices, better battery chemistry, and infrastructure are the only things holding E.V.'s back from taking over, But I think we're still a long way from that happening, and I think these price cuts, and other manufacturers electrics reportedly starting to rot on dealer lots, are a good indication that Electrics aren't quite ready for the mainstream.
You sound like everyone I knew in 2002 telling me there is no reason to have cable internet yet. Everything is built for 56k and I'm going to stick with that for the next 20 years. When will there be a use for faster internet/mass adoption? "Who knows?", right?! Right?!
