It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

So the problem for people is they were happily paying 30% cut to dealers of their expensive gas guzzlers , but have a problem when Tesla provides the same discount to buyers directly avoiding middle men ! At least they are not apple which takes home a convenient 50% profit margin on their filthy expensive phone releases every year ! We love paying exuberant prices to corporates but when a neighbor gets cheaper one, we shit in pants.. We are just a jealous society and nothing ..I've paid 10k over today price and don't mind if Tesla becomes another 10k cheaper tomorrow .biggest concern for everyone should be what happens when electricity charges start going up exponentially! Move on now.. and talk about deal.

Im about to order a G80 BMW M3 manual base spec for ~$82k. After the price drop, Ive been tempted to get a Plaid instead...but as a car nut, Id much rather have a car that provides me way more feedback, fun, engagement, etc than just straight speed. The consumables and maintenance are going to cost me way more in the long run, but meh...you only live once and it's going to be my last ICE.
As a BMW M owner don't. If you want something real get a traditional N.A. M car, before they lost their way. If you want something fast get the plaid.

Anyone who paid before and is sad that prices have come down, you weren't paying attention. It's in Tesla's mission statement to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.

I'm a Tesla owner and shareholder, and I'm happy prices are coming down. The lower they go, the more people that can afford one. Most people in my neighborhood have an EV now, and taking a walk is a lot more peaceful without noisy and stinky ICE cars.

Only Tesla can afford to still profit at prices like this. Ford is the #2 US EV manufacturer and they're losing $60k per EV they sell [thestreet.com].

Bruh! For real, I'm wondering the same.
With write-offs, many couples or families grossing well beyond $300,000 can get their "adjusted" gross under $300,000/yr.

These price drops are insane! A model x after tax rebate cost almost as much is a high optioned model Y in 2022

Ive been a BMW hater my whole life lol..I really only liked the E30 and E36. For me it's always been about a car having bulletproof reliability with fun instead of all-out performance. I am a diehard manual guy (still have it in me to own ONE more) and the options for sedans with a manual are limited now.

I need a little bit more space so cant elect for the CT4 Blackwing. With the B58 having Toyota's approval, to me it means a lot and several BMW models are using that engine since 2015 with good reliability. I think the S58 in the M will be quite solid (knock on wood) since its a beefed up B58. All of the other drivetrain parts in modern cars being plastic does scare me, but at the end of the day...im not just looking for fast. Im looking for build quality, a more aggresive look, handling, and fun as a daily.

I'll try test driving a Plaid, i just dont want to get into an EV so early as I feel there are going to be a lot more options in the near future. Ideally I would like to wait to get into an EV until solid state batteries become a thing...

0-60 1.99 seconds. Name some production cars faster than that.
That was on a surface prepped with VHT and with 1 foot of rollout. VHT is sticky enough that you'll likely leave your shoes behind. The Demon is faster to 60 and in the 1/4 mile and last I checked it was a production car.

What t f are you talking about? Because of tesla price reduction, other competitor has to reduct the price too. Isn't it good for the market? Dealer doesn't like because they are fking loser

You can hate musk for whatever reason. But you cannot deny that Tesla car are one of the best ev car on the market. And tesla charging network is the best.

I owned two Evs and recently test drove Hyundai, ford. None of them coming close to Tesla's software. The only issue I see for tesla is their quality control
One other thing I see, they're interiors aren't quite as luxurious as the other cars that it competes with.

I do…. I don't buy anything without checking the price or deal at Slickdeals.
I am not buying a Tesla anytime soon. I am happy with my GL450, which I paid cash 7 years ago

Same here, almost addicted to SD. Very tempted to upgrade 70D (also paid cash) to Model X, below $80k, Fed rebate, no sales tax in NJ, only thing I'd miss is free super charging.

You can't have everything. Tesla is not as luxurious as other manufacturers, but it has the charging network, range and performance that no one can beat. To me, the charging network and the range are the highest priority.
