It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

It has less problems? Wait till you're out of warranty and need something as simple as a battery change, and wiper or windows regulator replaced.

You will be sticker shocked with Tesla outrageous service labor cost.

Source: my household owns 4 tesla. I speak from personal experience. The lack of non tesla repair shop is killing it. It's hard to find non tesla repair shop.

I second this, this applies not only for regular maintenance but even body repairs

According to Tesla, 2024 might not get the full 7500 tax credit. I'm debating as well to get it next year or this year…
they just want you to order now, I have not heard of any changes come next year that would make them ineligible. they just want people on the fence to buy it ASAP, before their Q3 & Q4 delivery #s DROP.

I have a question. What happens 3 or 4 years down the line when the battery health is down like the phones we use. Do you pay to get the batteries replaced or is there some kind of coverage? Been wanting to get an EV but holding myself back thinking what happens next.
It is not a phone battery that gets fully cycled daily. EVs have very elaborate conditioning and cooling systems, and sophisticated battery management systems. If you were willing to quadruple the size of your phone and keep it between 20 and 80% state of charge you wouldn't have battery degradation there either. Phones are made to be small and disposable.

I thought the tax credit was capped at cars under $55K, no?

EDIT: I see it's $80K for SUVs. Don't forget the income limits ($300K max if married).

I think youre right. Only the Base Model X with no add ons would seem to qualify. At least the all the color options are free.
I think they need to make seat configurations free and colors they can charge reasonable amount of money because their color prices were absurd and still is for model 3 and y

Less than a year? The Plaid has been out for over two years already. It took about 18 months for it to hit it's first drastic price cut, before a 6kish price increase.
Prices should never change this much so drastically. If it does that means they ran out of their fanbois and now they are targeting sane people

Companies these large are already factoring the impact of the rebate on consumer willingness to buy / sales / inventory / supply and demand. If the 2024 doesn't qualify, they will adjust the pricing to compensate. The price reduction wouldn't be the full 7500, but it will be a substantial amount as subsidies are usually captured by the manufacturer.

I agree, it's a scare tactic to move in demand and purchases.

Someone wanting a factory warrantied sedan capable of 9 second quarter mile times for a $120k is a "fanboi"? Some people just like a fast car dude and that's stupidly cheap considering what it does. Don't be a douche.

My model 3 just crossed 4 years old for me. Surprisingly I haven't seen any noticeable battery degradation yet. I can still get 100% charge.

I want to know where I can get a BMW "M3" for this price, sucks that people keep calling this the "M3"

Will the REAL "M3" please stand up? please stand up?
Could get 2 M3's for the price of 1 of your real M3. I'd take the Elon version any day. It's not a perfect car but hard to beat the super car acceleration and one pedal driving

I'm not seeing this anywhere in this thread…

WAIT
WAIT
WAIT

Prices will get better in about 3 weeks at the end of Q3. I bet you could message them and get a MX with 6 seats in any color for <$80k.

I am sure they would like you to order one of their vehicles now, however there are significant changes almost every year that need to be evaluated for the tax credit. There are two different components of the IRA that each account for $3750 out of the $7500 tax rebate. The total rebate will vary because the vehicle may achieve one but not both depending on the following rules from the treasury. https://home.treasury.gov/news/pr...ses/jy1379

Tesla's aren't actively selling, which is why they resort to significant price reductions due to competition and lower demand than what they expected and mass produced (with poor quality). Companies don't typically lower prices to increase affordability; instead, Elon charges what he believes the market will bear. Additionally, reducing prices by 20% won't allow a company to maintain its trillion-dollar status unless it boasts a margin of 40% or higher. Essentially, anyone who bought Tesla within the past year has seen their resale value drop by 50% in just one year. All credits goes to Tesla.
What are you talking about? Do you even follow car markets in the slightest? Tesla is on track to deliver nearly 2 million vehicles this year, break sales records every quarter, and the Model Y may become the best selling vehicle of any kind this year.
