It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Interesting. After 11 years in San Jose and 7 years in the Sacramento area, I know of only one friend who has a washer & dryer in their garage. In this one case, I don't know if they are using gas or electricity for the dryer.

You are probably right, maybe I haven't paid much attention to it.
In the bay area a lot of houses (including in San Jose and ESPECIALLY in Sacramento) are newer and have the electrical panel in the garage (and the meter outside on one of the garage walls). I think an install in such a house should be pretty easy.

My crappy 1960s LA house has the freaking meter in the back yard lmao. The washer and dryer are in the garage but there's no 220v line lol.

That said, I think it'd still be painless enough since there's a subpanel in the garage... and Teslas here are super duper common now. I used uber twice today and both times ended up in a Tesla (which is weird since that's never happened before!)

What I _CAN_ say from that experience is I think the model S rides a lot better than the model 3. The model 3 is almost as bouncy as my jeep wrangler lol.

The idea this is all some vast conspiracy to maybe sell a couple more of a thing that' so little of their sales and that they haven't significantly increased production of requires....considerable mental gymnastics in an attempt to ascribe some sinister motive to a company simply pricing the thing the same as they did 3 years ago
Something thats interesting is that i believe model S and model X are only made in the fremont plant with extremely expensive labor (probably amongst the highest of any manufacturer in US)

So it makes sense then that they can lower the price again to what it was 3 years ago, especially as the R&D amortization on model S and model X be almost zero at this point.

Labor has stayed pretty much the same in fremont for past 3 years, but im sure all the material costs for interior/exterior/seats/screen/glass/etc was out of control past 3 years, feds raised up rates, everythings cooling, so the price comes rocketing down.

We bought a used 2018 75D X early last year for the same price as a new one now. I sorta feel like as if I invested in bitcoin. Resale value just tanked for sure.
At least Bitcoin is still likely to go up. Buy some and some Tesla stock, hold it for 10 years and you will forget about the loss from this vehicle. If it helps your Tesla still depreciated less in the last 18 months than almost any other car you could have bought.

300-500 for the charger and 200-2000 for charger installation.

Charger installation costs vary greatly depending on how far the garage is from your panel. Also if you need a panel upgrade it will be much more.

In many places, the utility provide may have rebates on charger purchase and installation. Example where i live SMUD [smud.org]has some major rebates.
You don't need to buy a charger. It comes with a cord and all you need is a 240v outlet to plug it into.

People should be sure to check out the "Realtesla" sub on reddit to get contrary opinions to shills (who will reply to this and complain). Tesla may be the car for you, and may be great for some (not towing due to mileage decrease), but be sure to get a balanced input.

yes, unlike the personal EV credit you can roll over unused parts of the solar credit for as long as the credit exists (which is at least another 10 years barring congress changing the law)

Gracias! I sure don't wanna screw that up. End up with $12K solar credit I can't use. But being as I can't rollover the credits from auto purchases, That most definitely puts the kibosh on a model X. No biggie. I like the model Y.
Thanks for the info!

Looked through 50 threads and found a single complaint from an actual owner.

That actually does speak volumes about the quality on these things.

The Mach-e subreddit has 90% fewer active members but is filled with their cars having issues. Quite interesting.

My brother is a software developer and made $410K last year, which was less than the year before. But, it will be even higher this year. But, he's still on the lower end. His compensation varies depending on the value of his RSU's.

He has friends in ai making almost $1 million a year. They drive Taycans that are like $180K.

Plenty of people who can afford these cars.

Go to college, get a tech job in ai. It will change your life.
sounds sus

but again Tesla gets $0.00 of that tax credit on the sale of those.
Considering if it makes or break the sale, they are absolutely benefiting monetary from it.

wait until the end of the year they'll drop their price again. Elon Musk said if the Federal Reserve doesn't cut rate, which they probably won't, Tesla will have to lower prices.

I bought the 2019 MX for almost 96k in early 2022. Tesla is running a deal which you can transfer FSD to the new tesla. With the price drop, is it worth to trade the 2019 in for the new 2023 MX with latest infotainment system as well as rear entertainment?

Oh, so now you're specifying production?

Because there are lots of drag cars that'll do much quicker. But at the same time, ok, 0-60 in under 2 seconds in a straight line. That's the only thing it has going for it, fun wise. Useless on a track. No engine sound. Terrible steering wheel. Terrible QC. Yeah, electric will be even faster in the coming days, but there's nothing particularly exciting about EVs. Everything about cars that made people, 'car people' are gone with an EV.

Have you even driven one? My other car is a fun e93 BMW convertible. Drives great. Amazing balance. Fitted with Pilot 4S tires, the thing carves the canyon roads by my home and the switchbacks. I love the car and it carried me across the country on an epic road trip on route 66..

However, I find myself choosing the Y every single time as my daily driver. It glides. The accel is instantaneous. It is so quiet. It is comfortable and easy. Is it a P51D Mustang? Nope. It's a 747. But when you're stuck in traffic or doing a daily commute, what do you want - a seat in an ear splitting Mustang? Or a business class seat on a 747?
