Kirkland motor oils is made by Warren Distribution, a legitimate oil manufacturer that makes many private label motor oils. Oil analyses have shown it has levels of zinc, phosphorous, and moly comparable to quality name-brand motor oils--research on bobistheoilguy.com to learn more. To summarize from an analysis post on BITOG, Kirkland motor oil is "comparable to most any name-brand 5W-30 DEXOS-rated oil".

Anecdotally I've been running it in my wife's 2013 Chevy Equinox (per DEXOS) and my 2005 Lincoln Town Car (ILSAC GF-5 exceeds the Ford spec for the 4.6 V8), and have no complaints.
No… Kirkland oil isn't the same as Mobil 1.

Warren distribution doesn't even make lubricants for ExxonMobil.

It is the same as super tech and Amazon basics though. A very basic group 3 synthetic meeting api sp and dexos1 so it's fine for most asian and domestic cars.
Kirkland automotive batteries are made by Johnson Controls and Kirkland oil is made by Warren Oil

Costco/Kirkland don't manufacture motor oil, so they are basically repackaging someone else's.
Is it Kendall, Penzoil, Mobil, Castrol, Shell, or some Chinese crap they imported?
Also don't be fooled by the "Full Synthetic" label. The standards in the US to meet the "Full Synthetic" grade are so low, it's really not much better than "conventional"...
Most important thing to look for is whether it has been any car manufacturer certified, i.e. BMW LL-01, MB 229.x, VW 507.x etc...

I woudn't put this in my Honda and keep it there for 10k miles, but would do it with Mobil-1, so if you need to change it more frequently, are you really saving any money, even if it's half the price of a good oil?

Having said that, if you have a 20 year old Honda or Toyota, it really doesn't matter...https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...s/emot-LOL.gif
It's actually good oil though lol

Oh and the consensus with this oil is that's it's made by Warren distribution aka the same oil as Mobil 1. At least that's what the 'oil community' seems to say. Put it in all my cars for over 5 years and they all look new after removing the valve covers.

Anyone use this oil in a modern Subaru Boxer engine? I've gone pretty much exclusive with Mobil1 for years, but at this price, it might be worth the risk

you are driving a Subaru, not a Porsche or McLaren! And not on the Autobahn with speeds of 150+mph either! So it is all good.

I'm putting it in my 2022 IS350 and my 2015 Highlander. I feel like I have similar maybe slightly better temp/rev control with this than Mobil 1.

Just like Costco Kirkland battery is actually Duracell with out the label, Costco Kirkland motor oil is Mobil 1 without the Mobil label. With Costco's store brands, it is moronic to make assumptions about quality based on price.
